Our batting is lacking. That team could play on difficult pitches. Ours lack that. It is another thing that most of the teams today lack that.

2000 Aussie team was good cos of their outstanding bowling attack. No team can play well on difficult pitches, then and now. Give a raging turner or swinging green strip and everyone shits the bed.

Edit- also at that time other teams had mediocre bowling attacks. Now NZ, England, India have great seam options.

Not true. Their batting lineup was fantastic, complementing their even better bowling lineup beautifully. They had a set batsman for pretty much every position.

Not true on "No team can play well on difficult pitches" either. One can't make a blanket statement like that, putting every batting lineup in the same category. Yes, one can't expect teams to score 400+ on difficult pitches but there is definitely a difference between a team scrapping towards 250-300 and one team getting bowled for less than 150. If nothing else, out own team played spin well during that time. Same can't be said about this team. Australian team batted well in England, Australia, and Africa during that time as well.

Also, many more teams had much better bowling lineups then. Difference between England's bowling lineup then and now is not at all as wide as the difference between bowling lineups of Sri Lanka, West Indies, Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa.

Kiran More, Mumbai Indians' scout and wicketkeeping consultant, tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday (April 6). The former India wicketkeeper-batsman is asymptomatic and has been isolated from the rest of the set-up.

I have a bad bad feeling about this IPL.

Ya it won't be cancelled, what i fear is it will be cancelled midway, once a player who was in playing 11 tests positive (asymptomatic most probably)

Our test team has been amazing. Unbeatable at home and tough competitors away.
Kudos to Virat.  This is great achievement.

Cant wait..!! Just 2 days to go..!! MI-DC-PK-SRH top 4 for me this season. MI being the favourites to win again cos of their strong Indian core players. But would love to see DC or PK win this year.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams has tested positive for COVID-19, the franchise revealed on Wednesday (April 7). Sams had linked up with the RCB squad in Chennai on April 3 with a negative report, but has returned a positive result in subsequent testing made mandatory as per the IPL SOPs. This was the second test conducted in the team hotel.

Sams is said to be asymptomatic thus far and has been isolated at a "designated medical facility", the club said in a statement. "Royal Challengers Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continue to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols," the statement added.

Will wait for top 4 till a few games get underway and we feel how the teams are performing. All squads look competitive this time unlike last time. Someone new should be the champ this time. MI domination has become boring.

IPL will be treated like football. Someone will get positive here and there and they will keep managing it and move on.

Problem is that in football, matches are spread over a larger time frame and geography.

Having said that, i hope things remain fine. IPL is always fun no matter what

True.
I wait for IPL all year long.
Right now foreign players or less popular guys are affected. Once a Rohit or Kohli gets affected it will be a different ball game with BCCI. I hope it doesn't happen and we get the full league Corona free.

MI has the history of losing first match, RCB usually starts the tournament slow, so 9th will be interesting.. we are meeting the rejuvenated CSK with Pant as Captain in first game on 10th so that will be fun..

Sadly, I will miss most part of both matches as I am playing in club matches both evenings.

I like backing underdogs so RCB win against MI and of course DC should win against CSK but with Nokia and Rabada missing the opener gonna be close.

My ideal DC starting 11-

Shaw
Dhawan
Smith
Pant
Stoinis
Hetmyer
Woakes
Ashwin
Mishra
Umesh
Ishant

This gives enough batting and bowling depth. Smith can do what Iyer used to do.

I assume they are going to play rest of the tournament, right?

Our batting looks strong but our fast bowling looks weak without them. Both Ishant and Umesh are leakers

In mandatory quarantine for 7 days. Will definitely play game on 15th.

Ya, both or one of them should play all games. I prefer Umesh over Ishant in white ball. Can be expensive but picks wickets too.
