playstation
Sachin fan hangs himself ANDAVAPURA (MANDYA): India's triumph over Sri Lanka in the World Cup final failed to cheer Sujay, a diehard fan of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. Said to be distressed over Sachin's failure to reach the 100th century milestone, Sujay hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his room. His body was found by his parents on Sunday morning. His parents and friends said he took the extreme step because he was upset with Sachin getting out early in the match. Sujay's grief-stricken father Bhaskar said his son was a huge fan of Sachin, and did not miss a single match. Sujay watched the match along with his friends till the game was over, and did not express any joy after India won. "We knew he was disheartened about Sachin's failure, but never guessed that he would end his life," said Bhaskar, tears rolling down his cheeks. According to friends, Sujay was obsessed with cricket and Sachin was his God. Mani, his friend, said Sujay had bet with them that Sachin would definitely score his 100th ton in this World Cup. Sujay, a resident of Pandavapura town, was doing his final year degree in Banumaiah College in Mysore. Reveller dies of heart attack Davanagere: The World Cup victory was too much for a cricket fan, who died while celebrating, following a massive heart attack in Honnali town. Rudra Naik, 35, a resident of Pallavanahalli in Honnali taluk of Davanagere district, watched the match on a television screen put up for fans at Honnali bus stand. He was drunk and was dancing in the victory procession when he collapsed and died. Police found the body at 2am on Sunday. A case was booked and investigation is on. source Poor parents ...feel sorry for them but seriously what a dumb decision .....had to pay for it with his life. playstation
World Cup: India goes crazy on networking sites MUMBAI: Thousands of cricket fans from around the world turned commentators as the World Cup Final unfolded at Wankhede on Saturday. Ball-by-ball updates flooded social networks with audiences posting messages about everything they saw on TV and even live at the stadium. It all started with the controversial toss. Curious about the re-toss, many Facebookers logged on to video-sharing sites. "Guys watch the toss video on YouTube," US-based Vinay Shukla posted on his page. "You can hear Sangakara calling tails. He is a cheater." A few others tongue in cheek demanded the UDRS (Umpire Decision Review System) for the toss. Mahela Jayawardene's top-knotch batting and ensuing century made him susceptible to jokes from Indian fans. Twitter user Mihir Joshi tweeted, "Were such gentlemen. Were not bothering Jayawardene because our bowlers have been told Mahilaon ko takleef mat dena." Others were ready to abduct Mahela's mahila to get him out in a reverse reference to the Ramayan. Referring to Poonam Pandey's proclamation, someone posted on Facebook: "Ek mahila India ke liye utaarne ko taiyaar, aur ek Mahela puri india ki utaar di". By the end of the first half, a few Twitterers began drawing fresh analogies with the Ramayan. "Sita has been kidnapped. Let's go get her in the second half," one tweet said, while another reasoned: "Even the original Ramayan kicked off with the Vaanar Sena suffering setbacks. We will win eventually." As the innings progressed, Indian fans expressed their irritation with the commentators. "Gavaskar becomes like a child in toy shop while watching Sachin bat. It's fun, but irritating!" a user tweeted, while another questioned: "Why does Ganguly describe what we can see?" Indeed, tweets and Facebook wall posts reflected the various stages in the match. Slower sections of the match saw lesser tweets while high points saw a flurry of posts. Soon after Sachin God Tendulkar got out, everyone turned to the God in the audience with one request: "Rajnikanth do something. Don't just sit there". And every time the camera showed a close-up of the star, users tweeted and retweeted, "Rajnikanth has watched India win in his dream last night. Today, he's just watching the highlights!" source
