again no one is saying his innings yesterday was great, we all agree it was one of the factors for loss yesterday, but a lot of judgement is being passed on his entire career, which is not true.

Fair enough.

The vibe I got is that since we owe a lot to him, we should discount off one selfish day.

What he has done for India, I am all prepared to.... if its just one day.

Generation Gap and Under 21 fans are all the excuses left for Sachin fans? I have been watching cricket since '96 and like everyone growing up during that period, I was a big Tendulkar fan. What does that have to do with how he played yesterday? As Indian team fans,do we have no right to criticize Sachin, like other players? If this was for Mumbai Indians I wouldn't have given a damn. Also whats wrong in asking him to retire? He is 38 years old, failed in the Tri Series and first match here, has been part of a team that has lost 8 matches in a row?

Rahul Dravid had a conscience but i know its too much to expect from Sachin

No one passed a judgement on his entire career even though as Indians fans we have every right to.You can disagree with it.Its the post World cup performance that is in question.

He's not ready to retire yet?

As long as hes getting runs theres no need to

How many of you remember that Sachin walked to the ground in 1999 world cup 3 days after his dad passed away and scored a brilliant century ??

Dont tell me it was against a minnow coz he had to play the previous game against Zimbabwe but din playy as he had to cme back to India..We lost that match...

That alone says everything about the man he is .It was a terrible personal tragedy for him but when his country needed him he was there .

and on our forums i am sure a lot of members are below 21 year old, so they were not even born when he started making cricket a religion in india. But they are experts on what he should do or not do :P

The most easiest thing in the world is to sit on a couch and pass expert comments .Hes been there for 22 years and even yesterday he talked about the WC triumph being his dream and not about the 100th 100 .

well....as one of the articles points out; Sachin is not someone who 'belongs' to this generation of cricket....The current generation is the one which just makes a quick buck (barring a few notable exceptions). He is someone who belongs to an era where playing cricket/representing state/country itself was a huge honor.....So its quite natural of younger ppl to just pass judgments and ignore in what light he was viewed as a young batsman who took the world by storm....

He is the last of the era .The last of a dying breed .Many people forget or have not seen how the Indian cricket team was till Dada came .

Also i want to know how many of you actually watched this match live ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QewO3vrPXjw

I had tears in my eyes whn the match ended..When Sachin got out we need 17 runs to win...we had 3 wickets left and we lost the match..

This was the teams state in 90's...No wonder we used to loose..

Edit : He had very bad back ache , thats the reason he got out..He could'nt even come to the presentation ceremony to get the mom , dats how bad his condition was...

i still remember this....watching India slip to 5/82; i went to a friend's place for the noon...later in the afternoon; caught up with my folks for lunch nearby; and there mom/dad told us that India lost :( I remember how my mom (an ardent Sachin fan to this day) went on rant about "10 jokers who cannot score a run to save their life but expect one person to do it"

What a game that was :O

I was in tears at the end .Mongia and Sachin took us so close .I still remember Sachin being absent from the post match MOTM ceremony and I felt horrible for him

22 years of playing.....injuries like the one he had in the toe (1999), tennis elbow (2004) and shoulder operations notwithstanding.......one of the rare batsmen who have scored runs 'everywhere' in thw world....what do we want of him? Retirement? A thankless bunch of 'cricket fans' we are....

You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain

Winning a world cup is every cricketer's dream. What was so special about that statement? Cricket is a team game,so i don't expect him to say that a personal milestone is his dream on National tv.The way he batted defied his words completely.

You don't need a clone to replace him.Any young guy who has done well in domestic cricket.Rahane,Pujara,Menaria....any one.Its not that we have really struggled when he has chosen to skip tournaments.

Tendulkar wasn't born great. How would you know about the young players without giving them a decent chance?

Pujara is middle order IIRC and Rahane has had 11 chances already and he has done average .What I mean is ya you need to replace him in the long term but you need to mould players to replace him.No one can immediately step into Sachins shoes and do better.Groom them for the next 2 years and then when Sachin calls it quits replace him.

Also Do u think Sachin is the one who needs immediate replacement or our middle order ?

Lke i said we don't need clones,we need 6-7 good batsman.Sehwag and Tendulkar themselves were middle order batsmen when they started. You can't hold someone's batting position against them when it comes to selection.Current example is of Tharanga at no 6.Again i would like to point out that we have done well when Sachin has skipped tournaments. Now don't tell me you expect him to play the next WC,that gets into absurd territory.

dA FUQ everyone is yapping about?

First you mount colossal pressure on the guy to get his ton Then you ridicule him for wasting balls, after that if by any chance if India won yesterday the team would always have been Bangladesh. Who stopped Ravindra Jadeja/Rohit Sharma from scoring runs yesterday? This guy carried the weight of 10 jokers in the team since the 90s in various permutations and combination till the time of dada and Dravid and after that as well. Yet when the day came when someone had to cover for him everyone chose to hide behind the curtain of his being selfish. He was not the joke yesterday the joke was on the morons who could not cover for him nor defend 289 against B'Desh The joke is on Dhoni for sidelining talent like Tiway and other talent in favor of jokers like Jadeja who single handedly lost us the T20 world cup.

ask yourself this, If India had to chase a 350 + score in the ASIA Cup Final who will you want to face the first delivery?

Who stopped Ravindra Jadeja/Rohit Sharma from scoring runs yesterday?

Ironically the answer is Sachin Tendular.Jadeja got to face just two balls(thankfully) and got 4 runs.Sharma was unlucky to be run-out

Both got to the crease only after Tendulkar was out in the 45th over

Why does everyone go back to the 90s when our team was entirely dependent on Sachin? No one is discounting his contribution.Things have changed and our batting line-up is far better and thankfully not entirely reliant on him.

Ya I bet if Sachin would have got out in the 35th over Both of them together would get India past the 350 mark then?

The last time they did that was ummm ya like NEVER

About wasting balls Dhobi has been doing it since time immemorial now. one match here and we forget about his failings in the past then I have to say that the man who has scored a hundred 100 times( that is right folks more hundreds than the entire team that played yesterday put together) simply deserves better
