dante77
RCB but i am liking this IPL thing a lot, i can actually feel connected to the team and this concept is def picking up, f**k the TRP and controversies, they are a part and parcel of game. But i really hope that they scrap the rule of dissolving entire team after 3 years, you start feeling connected and suddenly your fav players are playing for some one else. Keep the trading open from the day IPL ends to two months before the start. IPL definetly has a great future but really needs to taken care of properly, all the haters in this thread itself jumped in as the tournament progressed. So they can win people but they should keep there mind and objectives in sight. Absolutely True. I just love IPL. Love watching foreign players play together with indian players f**k the haters. Another thing I really like is that the foreign players are so involved every game, they really take each game seriously. Emotions can be clearly seen in a match. Its not that they are here for money only, they really want to win and perform well. In fact, most of the time forign players win you the matches. About that connection part - ab gayle agar kisi ki team me hoga to aisa hi bolega wo

silentassassin
I'm totally against making a transfer system like EPL.. Then like EPL there'll be 30 % of the teams trying to win the league and rest trying not to get relagated.. Teams with lot of money will buy all the top players.. Retaining 4 player option is anyways there..Last year except MI n CSK noone retained there 4 players.. Also if u want the same team u can buy the players from the auction..CSK has similar team in all seasons with minor changes..
Sufyan
Few thoughts from a "hater's" perspective on this year's IPL -Watched 3-4 games in its entirety and most of them were fun. -Still haven't found a team i could support after 5 years. My home team is full of obnoxious players like Munaf,Harbhajan,Rayudu and Sharma.Always end up supporting the underdog -They seriously need to trim down the matches.70+ matches is overkill.May be have the same format as the World Cup.Have 8 or 10 teams. -Allow a maximum of 10-12(out of 16) matches for each foreign player in the league stages so that the other benchwarmers like Nannes,Morgan etc get a few games. -Get rid of Siddhu from the studio,he is grating on the nerves -Get rid of Gavaskar from com box-Worst commentator ever, and switching to a Jamaican accent whenever a Windies player is on screen is racist. -Gayle,Bravo and Narine should be in England right now. They shouldn't have a choice when it comes to National duty.Their national boards should be stringent, may be drop their contracts. -Allow Pakistan players to participate.Drop some of the unknown Aussies, pick some English players instead. I know none of this will ever happen, just my two cents... Edited May 24, 2012 by Sufyan

Big Boss
all you need is a supporting team. Once you start supporting a team from the heart, this all will convert in positives Its true. I am a CSK supporter since 1st IPL because of Dhoni. I never gave a f**K about region, as I hate regionalism in India. Then I support DD because of Sehwag, and supported Pune because they were underdogs. In case of other team matches, I support the batting side if the result has got nothing to do with chances of DD or CSK or PWI in final stages. Big Boss
http://blogs.espncricinfo.com/iplwatcher/archives/2012/05/newsfile_may_24.php The captain Harbhajan Singh was guilty of his second over-rate offence in this IPL and hence fined a massive $40,000. The rest of his team-mates had to shell out $10,000 each BC No wonder BCCI is rich.

godspeed4476
An excellent article by Guha on IPL. http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/article3453046.ece An excellent article indeed except for the fact that it starts with a lie, yes he can watch the other matches for free but members are not entitled to free IPL tickets, may be one of the reason why the author is sulking and writing the article? In India, where the politicians leave no stone unturned to make profits out of even small issues, do you think they would let go of a cash cow like IPL? People in my native place as far as 5-7km away come to my home to watch the IPL matches, even though UP does not have a IPL team so dont know why the author is cribbing about rural folks not following IPL. also, Gayle was not allowed to play the test match and not selected for it due to the issues with WICB, so how does that argument hold? godspeed4476
^While some of his points are true, overall the article is pretty lame. most of his points are false, and the points which the author has stated are obvious facts of Indian society, so its like mixing truth with lies to present the article as complete truth. Its good in a way to see a cricket association member sulking and crying in corner. Where were these member and their articles, when the WC semi final and final tickets were distributed to them and the general public was kept at bay? I dint read the Article..But ill go with you about that rural crowd thing.. We took a vacation in april end..We stopped in a village to have some food..The village is very small and had'nt even heard about it.. But outside that hotel there a huge group of men discussing about the IPL..All of them were around 40 to 50 years of age..They were'nt even speaking about the local team RCB , they were speaking about Azhar mohammads inclusion and about other teams also.. n that gayle arguement people are making is really foolish..Gayle and Bravo are'nt playing for WI from a long time..they were'nt part of the team even when we toured WI.. So WI playing test series and Gayle and Bravo playing IPL is just a co incidence..
Big Boss
True. He cribs about having 2 IPL teams in MH and rest states are not having one. Is IPL run for charity? Which franchise will earn profit by buying a team from Assam or Himachal or UP? Then age old point about T20 being bad yada yada. I bet he forgot that Dhoni, our best captain, stormed into International scene via T20 WC win. Had there been no T20, I dont think India would have been the force it is now. Stupid biased article, probably paid off by the people asking for IPL ban. I mean people blamed IPL for that rave party, Pomersbach incident. How retarded is that? Why not blame IPL for Petrol hike? Why not blame IPL if the writer doesn't get a hardon when he wife stands naked because he is used to wacking off to cheerleaders? Stupid writer. Actually there is a reason that Sahara choose Pune as their hometown.. They own a huge resort in Pune.So all pune players stay in their resort during and before the IPL..It'll help them cut costs by a huge deal.. People blaming IPL for Rave parties and Luke's incident was very pathetic..n that Keerthi Azad guy was going crazy about it.. Seriously, what pomersback do has nothing to do with the IPL and also, he assaulted a cop in australia so australians should blame aussie cricket board.
