New Rules for Free Offers

I agree with MT

His point is to check the credibility of the participants. Its done on all kinda competitions.

500 posts is a very good measure. It will make people stick around more than just freebies or personal gain, but for the welfare of others and the community. I think that's what MT is aiming for. 2 birds of 1 stone.

Regarding the TP count. its not at all nice. some folks don't do deals online. some don't want to. some haven't had a chance or need.

The offer giver can decide whether to give or not. As i see, people with enuff rep are doing this freebies. they will know the seeders and leechers. sorry the torrent talk. but suits best. The Offer giver can be given full right to decide that. if he thinks the guy is not on level. he can give it to next.

p.s. DaN u deserve a hug. ;)

:( I just came accross this thread, :S it already has 18 page reply in couple of hours.

I just read the first page and rules...according to me 500 post thing should be kept in option of Trading post feedback. And certain good old trusted fellow GIans like GHB should be exempted from 500 posts rule.

MT u r drunk...again? YES? j/k

the 500 post rule is kinda fair though.

and who the f**k is that offending member, let the GI know about him :(

Very interesting matter to say the least.

My 2 cents:

At the point of writing this post I can safely say that I have no idea of what range my post count is in. Post count is a mere number depicting how many times you've expressed a view on a matter; whether you have posted a :( / :( / :P / :P / etc... or a lengthy, substantial, heartfelt view on a topic of your interest it still comes down to the same number.

In a situation like the one we are dealing with at present, we can't morally decide whether the winner of any given contest is actually deserving enough for the "prize". So, you may ask, "What exactly can we do to decide a fair and systematic (no pun intended) eligibility criteria?"

The answer is somewhat simple. We can't expect the Mods and Admins to uniquely decide eligibility based on individualistic opinions can we? What we can do is set a post count or similar criteria as trading post feedback to decide eligibility in a general manner. To some this may seem unfair but given the resources and the information provided on each member this is the best possible way to distinguish eligible and non-eligible members.

Now, the question at hand is, "What is the right number to judge eligibility by, even if it is an insignificant and possibly meaningless number?" That is a question that can only be answered by the Mods and Admins themselves. Why? You may ask.

For arguments sake say I have 200 posts and I want to take part in these giveaways, undoubtedly I am going to suggest a post count number for eligibility that is in my range, which may be the case for several

hundred

of our members.

Now here's what I really want to mention,

People who come here minute after minute; hour after hour and day after day for a community of information, socialization and other matters related to the web of Indian Gaming in my opinion shouldn't really care whether they're eligible for a free offer or not, after all these offers haven't been around for that long at all. What's really important is that if you're here for the right reasons stay for the them and not the free offers.

Let the Mods and the Admins do what they think is suitable because their decision after all will be the most neutral and unbiased.

good write up systematic.

whatever u just said is perfectly true and that's exactly what the discussion has been abt all this while.

the mods and admins will decide what rules to finalize but they just wanted to take the members opinion and see if they missed out any loopholes or inconsistencies that they may not have noticed.

btw... MT.... is there any change in the rules till now ? :( i mean, looking at all this discussion.

lol at the pic DaN posted

500 posts is ridiculous, guess only 20 percent of the members of this forum will be eligible.

And i totally agree with Athek, feedback must not be an all out criteria. May be people with negative feedback can be discouraged, but not people with zero and positive feedback. We're not here just to buy, we're here to share ideas and have fun...Thats the whole point of a forum.
