one more thing...what if someone with less than 500 posts or 3 positive feedbacks wants to give away free stuff? is that also a sin?

Dude dont be so overdramatic. I do understand your (and Neo's) frustration but I think the rules are still open for discussion so maybe we can get to a common ground.

Abhishek, the brother you met today was me :P

Oh, and +1 count

OMG you were like 10. I always pictured someone older.

Just kidding.

Apologies for keeping you waiting though. And for rushing off like that.

OK, last suggestion from my side, since these are free deals, I think its the best to leave it to the seller to decide if he really wants to give it to the person who won it. Putting rules like this, just makes stuff complicated. I mean, I understand your igood ntentions behind the act, but sometimes, things are better off without this sort micro management.

We received a complaint from one of the sellers, as I have pointed out in the opening post. This is why we are trying to implement measures to counter this. How would you feel if you had been the second guy to post at 12 am thereby losing out to the offending member and then found out that he had sold the game to someone else. That's "sold". For cash. Not given away free.

And this was done after it was specified that the item should not be sold by the winner.

the seller may not have an as good idea of the winner than the mods/admins IMO and can get easily betrayed

thats the risk the seller has to take, he's the one giving stuff for free. And moreover whats the point of having a free deal, when 90% of the members aren't even eligible for it ?

So it takes a mini controversy to get you to participate actively.

If any member with less than 500 posts or 3 positive feedbacks wants to give away free stuff, its fine by us. The rules for eligibility for participation still stand for those vying to win.

So according to you, when a generous member who gives away stuff for free complains to us about feeling betrayed, we should tell him to live with it ? We should just say "This is Life" and ignore him ? We should tell him that he's a fool and its all his fault?

I agree MT, but you can ban him and leave it at that. I think that should suffice as a warning for any future offenders and as well an advice the sellers. I mean, the sellers can themselves make these rules isn't it as per their wish? You can perhaps put this as an advisory, but why should this be made mandotory ?

^^ you are permanently banning the offending member isn't it ? Cummon, now, tell me, like i've stated before, if 90% of the ppl in the forum are not even eligible, doesn't it defeat the purpose of having a free deal ?

Anyway, its late in the night, time for bed :sleep3: I've given my inputs. Hope you mods/admins take an informed decision

2. Post count limit actually doesn't make sense. like ghb mentioned before. it actually encourages ppl to spam more and post less meaningful msgs.

Spammers will not reach 500 mark. Heck most of them don't even make it till 50

Btw I think I don't have positive feedback either :P

I agree that a lot of people come here to just trade and buy used stuff, to be very frank that's the biggest crowd puller. That was how i got here. But i never posted crap to increase my post count because that makes u look lame. I tried to post things that were relevant to the topic.

My suggestions:

1. Minimum Posts : 250 (or)

2. 3+ positive Trading Post feedback without any negative ones. If there is negative feedback for that person , he should have :negative x 5=??? number of positive trading post feedback.

This will be similar to the Library eligibility criteria.

He already has possession of the item. Banning him will prevent that particular member from screwing up future deals, but what about others like him? How many members will be deprived of freebies due to these tactics? I would rather see genuine GI members who have helped to make this community lively and fun be the true beneficiaries of the generosity of their peers. Not some fly-by-night dickwad.
