Madhav
/Snigger. Again I think too many people are actually busy complaining rather than offering their suggestions. i say move this thread to general chatter... would stop spamming for a headstart! MarketTantrik
^^ you are permanently banning the offending member isn't it ? Cummon, now, tell me, like i've stated before, if 90% of the ppl in the forum are not even eligible, doesn't it defeat the purpose of having a free deal ? The free deals should be for the benefit of the members who are making this community what it is. Whether the post count is 10,000 or 1,000, you can be sure that the member has been active on GI and has not done anything untoward to get himself / herself banned. It is also an indicator that the person likes GI and wishes to continue to be a recognized part and parcel of the community. You cannot say the same thing with the same confidence of a member with 100 posts to his name. I second this, and:ok, lets see, there's a member who spams to 50 posts and can access the trading post. He can offer to sell a couple of games for lets say, Rs. 2000 and run away when I transfer him the money. But hold on ! he needs 500 posts to get something somebody is giving for free !!! ( not to undermine the person who is giving it for free mind you !) Just because its being given away for free, doesn't mean we value it less. Au contraire, the perceived value should go up in everyone's eyes, because you are getting a chance to enjoy something for free (and in most cases without even paying for shipping). At least among us Admins and Mods, we treat this very seriously.

Somebody
but 500+posts will encourage more spamming and m.importantly..would leave me out i just realized.... 500 post rule would not exactly encourage spamming. it would take more than 15 days for someone to breach 500 posts even if he's posting almost 30posts a day on average. the mods can recognize someone spamming and just reset their post count before that. and, i highly doubt someone would have the patience to do all that and by the time they reach 500 posts, christmas will be over

Keyofx
@MT: As much as I agree that the intentions are good, don't you think the 3 positive feedbacks rider may be a bit too much? I've never been much of a TP person (never bought/sold) and most of my activity is elsewhere. And this is a small community. Everyone knows everyone else. Can't we do this on a case by case basis for individuals who meet every other criteria except one?
Fire Wolf
but 500+posts will encourage more spamming and m.importantly..would leave me out Actually, it won't. You'd have to seriously spam the heck out of the forums to reach 500 and that's pretty impossible without inviting mod attention (as posts in General Chatter don't count anyways). A suggestion I'd add/change is: *Atleast ONE +ve TP feedback. (and no -ve TP feedback)

Minimum number posts or 2. +itive TP feedback. which will give a chance to others also and not both .
shaklebolt
can any of the mods see what percentage f members are eligible acc to the rules currently ? (can you arrange / create a filtered list acc to # of posts ? ) cause 500 post count is.. dunno...not suiting me :cry5: and I'm pretty pretty sure, it would lead to spamming in the 100-500 post count group members... causing unnecessary post count resets and banhammers... just GI not heading in a good direction.. Gautam
I guess the mods are gunning for the 500 posts limit rather than 250 or some because the offender might have had a decent post count that was less than 500. But I feel sad at the stringent rules that have been put up. I've been a member of GI since the proboard days, have participated in two GI game offers and done two trades with positive feedback. I'm even wearing the GI T-shirt as I type this. But I guess going by my post count and MT's words that still doesn't make me a genuine GI member The administration and moderation of this forum has been awesome so far, but somehow I see it transforming into a corporate like setup where 'The Man' has the final word. Guys, do what you gotta do to prevent ugly incidents like these but don't make decisions that affect GI's accessibility to new/dormant members. And Bye Bye to you. !! so i guess we know who the culprit was i do really like GI and i like the way u guys keep things moderated...please dont think i'm offended or anything by ur proposed rules but since u asked for opinions i was merely offering them...i mentioned "IMHO" in my original post and i'll mention it again..."IMHO" 500 post count is high and posts not counting for general section is unfair...and the item giver should be the one to set the final set of rules
