New Rules for Free Offers

mt, a couple of posts back i have mentioned that i think the GI moderators are doing a great job and i do appreciate it...no question asked

and its not

really that

personal...in the end, it is also the forum members who ALSO make GI a great place...be it those who give away free stuff, bring up any kind of interesting topics (even the DID YOU KNOW thread), are ever-present in the shoutbox to provide constant amusement, etc etc...but to think of them any less than people who post game screenshots (your words) or are eager enough to buy/sell a couple of games on the TP is unfair..again IMHO

Screenshots was used as an example, but you seem to be fixated on that for some reason.

While I am not gonna question your specific contribution to GI, the same argument can be made by someone with just 1 post to his name. Or 10 posts. or 50 posts. Would it seem reasonable to you (try to think of this objectively) that this member has made immense contribution to GI without actually posting much. The General Chatter section has little to do with gaming and GI is primarily a gaming website, so if a member is not posting in SEVENTEEN sections that exist other than Gen Chat, would you still consider his debate on contribution ?

Lets assume for a minute that you say that a member cannot put forth the same argument as you are if he has only 50 posts to his name. Or 10 posts. Or 100 posts. Then where can we draw the line?

Would you be putting forth these arguments if the limit was 100 posts? Or if you had more than 500 posts to your name?

MT, I think I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that it would be much appreciated if you guys let us know what exactly happened with Chandranil at some point of time.

Give us the whole picture please. We all are eager to hear this first, lets see what we are facing before suggesting a solution.

Opening post updated.

Here are my 2 cents on this entire issue...

1. The guy who gave away a game for free came back to us because he was deeply hurt and i mean deeply for a great cause he had thought of and which turned so ugly....

2. You say post count is an issue well yes and no but i personally think any free stuff from members its great if some senior member wins hasn't he been around long enough to be treated a little prefereably and beleieve me getting to 500 posts is no easy stuff as of today we have more then 60 members who have 500 posts who have been here long enough and believe me they have not been spamming...60 members in my eyes are def worthy enough to get hands on free stuff a little more then a relatively new member and as time passes the new members also add to there post count build a creditibility...

I know some deserving people might be left out but at the same time they should understand that gradually they will get there and they will be a part of a better community...

Off all you people say that mod and admins decide shouldnt we have just implemented the rules and inform them but NO we want your opinion and we have not finalized anything debate is open till sunday...

People with less then 500 post have gone into an overdrive blowing things out of the roof...well honestly if a site member who is senior to you he deserves a litlle prefential treatment....ALl the mods and admins here have got there jobs to do but still we try our best to make things good for you and all we get in return is that its OUR forums its OUR rules....thanks for all the encouraging word guys appericate it....

Off all the people who have been having problem how many of you have actually managed to take time out and tell Admins that they are doing a good job i know a lot of senior members who have done that....

Anyway guys we are open to suggestion so i request you instead of flaming come up with ideas which makes the discussion worthwile....

GI is your world its my world its our world so lets keep Rocking GI...this place is and will be my second home...

,and as i know chandranil is a nice guy new to gaming ,he jus tried to xchange the game and not to sell it for wrongful gain ,

rishi a word of advice for you bro...dont make opinions on people until you know them well...it will help you a lot in future...as for chandranil i know him a lot better then you ...

as i mentioned rules got to be there...people like it or not...this thread is open for debate thats why...and trading feedback plus a post count is a must...i feel...so what if not many will be eligible...but rules got to be there to atleast so that free games goes to people who value games more then money..i know many genuine guys will suffer for it..but in long run it will help

The answer is,

Yes I would be still sitting outside in the mosquitoes to read what everybody is saying (cause my internet is down and I'm using padosi's wifi), but I would be complaining too much about the new rules... maybe even supporting them..

BUT

thats not the case with a major majority of us.. I know we have coalition Govts for past so many years, but majority has to be taken into account somewhere..

^ m jus saying if they want to do sumthing like this they shud do it this way

correction in opening post is gud but incase of default a person shud b banned if requested (i think )

You cant have it both ways. Contrary to what people might think, we thoroughly hate banning members and use it as a last resort. In our opinion, having a set of rules (and the ones we have posted particular) will help the gifter and benefit the community. But if the gifter chooses to open his / her offer to everyone regardless, we fully respect that decision, but will not take action if the winner breaks the conditions set by the gifter.

One option that the gifter has is that he / she can choose not to allow the offending member to win anything in any future offer run by him / her.

these free offers and alike are the things that are making regular member a permanent one ,if u restrict every move of a new member he will eventually loose interest in forum due to his inability to participate ,these are the kind of things that keep hopes of members high and escalated ,

tell me if i m wrong

These free offers started three weeks ago. GI is over 2 years old. Please keep things in perspective.

If getting free stuff is the reason the person want to be a permanent member and wait eagerly when something like that will come and stick to forums i think he is wrong...it should be the other way around he should be a permanent member to debate and to have discussion and when a free offer comes about he is there then also...its the same with all the old members they have not been a permanent member of GI thinking that there will be free game offer but cos they think this is there world...now you tell me if i am wrong...

I disagree. GI is not all about FREE offers. If someone is loosing interest because he cant participate in it then he is here for FREE offers only.

Yes you are wrong. This is the kind of motivation new members need to keep contributing to the site. Free stuff is free stuff..but athek's got a point. Members older than you have been around for long and whether they must get preferential treatment is debatable..

not necessarily.... a lot of ppl come to the forum for info on games or to know more indian gamers.

they'll be fine even if they're not eligible for such offers. they'll stay because they like the forum.

the ppl who come to the forum to get into such offers are more interested in saving money than contributing and enjoying a genuine gaming community.

absolutely...rite...its they been here for a long time...participated in things...did a lot to make gi what it is now...surely they should be given preference...

ALl the mods and admins here have got there jobs to do but still we try our best to make things good for you and all we get in return is that its OUR forums its OUR rules...

really words like this is so bad...all you guys who orders in gi deals you yourself know how fast you get games..plus discount..plus exceptional packing...do you guys feels the admin who does that has no other work other then pack and send things for you..why the hell they make offers man...whenever there is a question or doubt we get help...trading is kept in check so that stupid people dont trick people...and saying your forum your rules..thats sh*t...if it was their forum their rules do you think this thread would be there...you would be waking tomorrow to find "new guidelines or rules for free things" ...but that is not so..

GI is your world its my world its our world so lets keep Rocking GI...this place is and will be my second home...

surely mine too...thats why i said let the mods and admin decide after going through all the suggestions and do whats best...i think they are really good enough to do their thing...let there be complaints ..let people say thats not fair..but in long run it will help this community surely...

tell me if i have made ny assutions to ny members in the forum otherthan chandranil

i hav traded with that guy and only after that i m able to say wat i said , i might b younger than u in age and a little funny too but wen it comes to serious discussion i always think and than say

and regarding rule i didnt say rules r gud but excessive rules and limitation always tums out to b bad ,rules shud b made but rules shud also be flexible and not a rigid and also there shud b ample of discussion in making of such rules so that peoples dont feel its wrong or nything like that
