Snake
Free Radical, one of the PS2’s most successful developers, is being rumored to have closed its doors for good. Most famous for the TimeSplitters franchise, FR was currently working on Star Wars Battlefront 3 and TimeSplitters 4. If the rumor is true, the critical and commercial failure of Haze, their much hyped PS3 exclusive shooter, is undoubtedly one of the main reasons for their closing. The good news is that Battlefront 3 has been transferred to Rebellion, the developers responsible for the much acclaimed Battlefront games on the PSP. However, it is unlikely that TimeSplitters 4 will ever see the light of day, as FR was having trouble finding a publisher for the game and it is unlikely another developer will pick it up to continue the work on it. If news of the shut down is true, it is sad to see Free Radical have to close simply due to one poor game. Their track record on the PS2 was exemplary, and Haze was only their first venture onto next-gen consoles. Hopefully the TimeSplitters series is revived sometime in the future, whether it be this generation or next. http://www.ps3center.net/news/2002/rumor-d...as-closed-down/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plz god let it be fake..i love the TS series

Keyofx
Games being in development don't necessarily stop closures. I hope this is a rumour I've already had enough bad closure news today to last me the rest of the year

Cortez
It's confirmed..they are closed. Blame Lucasarts(A**holes) for it too.. The independent studio had a publishing deal with LucasArts on the unannounced Star Wars Battlefront III, a deal that fell through in October after about two years of development, the source said. "[Free Radical] was relying on Lucas for further contracts which had been promised in some sort of exclusivity deal. Obviously that all went down the pan." http://www.edge-online.com/features/source...dical-locked-up Can't seem to find my copy of future perfect..guess I'll buy it again as a sign of my final salute to one of the coolest studios. No more monkeys, babes, guns and humor..I wan't my timesplitters 4...
