Why are you people encouraging someone to not think about his studies? Losing sleep over studies is one thing, but worrying about studies till a certain degree is good, and in no way should be curbed.

^ true

And no one is encouraging it.

All these stories about how "we" never thought about studying when "we" were young, and instead used to party hard all the time are nothing but encouragement(for devoting little attention to studies) to a 9th grader.

he is in 9th. he will have enough pressure from parents snd others once 10th hits him.

let the kid enjoy. this is probably the last carefree year he will get till a while.

having nerves about a new class is one thing but contemplating 3 hrs of study a day, everudau at such a stage should never be encouraged. give an hour per day, couple on week ends or if its a new chapter. that should suffice.

An answer saying that an hour a day is good enough, would have sufficed. But we should be more careful about what we write here, as a 9th grader may get the wrong impression that we people never used to study when we were young, and it is perfectly fine for him to do the same.

good news -promoted to 9th grade :D with 70% as was not well the whole year and used to only give exams

bad news- getting tensed abt 9th thought will study 2-3hours daily and do gaming 2-3 hours daily too ...but now tensed that would 2-3 hours for studies be good enough ?

don't want gaming to suffer becoz of studies and studies to suffer becoz of gaming.... :( + 2-3 hours is the max i can give to studies daily :(

can anyone help me with the problem ...is 2-3 hours daily good enough shld i be tensed :(

Really? You can game later in life, if you fail to study now during these vital 4 years (9-12) you can't quite compensate for that missed opportunity. No one's saying give up gaming (I used to play an hour every other day or so atleast and a bit more on weekends when I was in 9th), but saying I have X hours a day and I need y hours to game shouldn't be your concern at this point.

Unless of course all you want to do is take over your daddy's business or something, or maybe have some trust fund that will pay for your education in a good university that will accept a 'donation'. I'm being really direct here because I find your concern farcical at best. 2-3 hours of studying a day is kinda expected and your sanity check should be if you're able to get the grades you should be getting in the exams that test you on the material you've studied.

Actually it depends on what your study pattern is.

I always felt like regular study never worked for me,i would rather use up the last few days before exams and usually it worked out well for me.

But yeah getting bogged under pressure is not good too,its obvious he is feeling the pressure, and i can understand it as 9 th grade is pretty tough too ,for me it felt tougher than 10th tbh.

Work hard but do other things too ,play outdoors indoors that helps a lot.It helped me a lot atleast.

You are too direct and as usual on the spot.... harsh but true.

(1) That "later" never really comes in the proper way. Nothing like coming back from school, firing up a console, and having a blast. He should enjoy it while he can.

(2) It's not that everyone needs to study 2-3 hours a day. It depends on the person, and having a rigid routine of anyhow reading x number of hours a day may also do more harm than good to many people. One should read with complete dedication, and should take a break whenever he thinks his dedication may be wavering, and then come back again with full force.

Pretty much spot on in the rest of the post.

Those are personal preferences. I agree on 2, which is why I added that line about doing what's needed to get to the goal. I'm sure there were people who studied all day every day who couldn't get the same scores or results I did and there were people who studied for less than half the time I did who still aced the tests.

As far as 1 goes, yes fire up the console and play an hour if you're busy but don't put away 2-3 hours rigidly for gaming and say you "don't want gaming to suffer" either. Play when you have the time to and you know you're on track with your studies. In my case 1 happens now too, I come back home and fire up my console and play as much as I want, I don't have to worry about where I'll be or what job I'll have or anything else at this point. I preferred that to a rigid gaming timetable when I was in school and someone else might want something else. I understand, different strokes for different folks.

And yes, the rest of my post I still stand by. Don't give up an opportunity now over want of ease. You won't get it back later.
