Heart broken ppl's club

More than material gifts, I think one should gift something that took personal effort to create. Something that uses one's innate talents. For instance, I'm good with poetry, music and elocution, so I write poems or play a song myself and send it to her. My gf is good with (as in professionally trained in) singing, dancing, painting and craft. So I kind get stuff the likes of which I'll be listing below for special occasions:

1. This was when a cat of mine died. He was barely a kitten and I was very sad so she made me this with some nice wording:

And what she made me - 20082009107e.jpg

2. A card she made and painted (no, not purchased) herself for my birthday:

3. And this one was part of a V-Day card I got long ago:

I like this kind of stuff and value it way more than any mass produced gift I could get. Besides, both of us are still in college and we're more or less blowing our parents' cash on each other if we go in for expensive purchases in the name of love. I'd feel much better gifting something I made / bought out of my own hard earned money.

I upgrade my PC once a year.

How often do you put a DVD/Blu Ray/CD in her eh? :naughty: I'd imagine pretty rarely, what with Steam and all. :P

@Gaurav :majesty:

Like Legend says, those are what I got. Thank you all the same.

Aren't those what you got? And i can see your girl is really talented in drawing. :good:

Yes. There's lots more where this stuff came from. I only wish I could draw and paint half as well :(

But the point is that each of us value personal effort way more than buying a teddy bear off a store shelf and sticking a greeting card with it. However that's not to say I don't buy anything, I make it a point to get something for her whenever I go abroad for a holiday. Problem is that parents get all "why a special gift for her? :scratchchin: " and I have to twist the "long time friend" angle to its limits to ease their apprehensions and make them pack it in with the luggage while returning.

Now that is just shocking and twisted question :sign_omg:

:fear: I was referring to the PC not anything else. PCs need attention too you know. Lotsa tender loving care. :P It's been a long time since I put a DVD in mine btw (I mean the PC you twisted evil man you). With pen drives going in anything and everything these days, CDs and DVDs are so last gen.

Whats the big deal with Valentines Day?

I would rather rename it as Loose your Virginity Day !! :bigyellowgrin: (Technically/biologically it already is, 14th Children Day) :scarerun:

PS: Humans Below 18 years of age-Do not read what is written above.
