Because, that roommate of your never LOVED that married woman or the girl back home, The married woman never LOVED her husband or this roommate. All playing a "feel good" convinience games.. Almost like another Woody Allen's reference "Whatever Works". Good way to distract themselves from what they really want, good way to find some short term companion without much investment of dreams, hopes, efforts and emotions, good way to live the socially acceptable life and still indulge your hormones once in a while. To each his own. Many such short term arrangements can precede or follow a serious Love involvement. So keep your heart open, have good intentions and most importantly, Believe in Love. It Exists.
