i'm gonna get a system tomo.....

so need some suggestions really fast guys....

its not a great performance system....

shall i go for intel c2d E7400 or AMD x2 7750 (also is an x3 better than this one in gaming)?

If i go with intel i'll have to settle for an ATI 4670 HD or 8600 GT

If i go with AMD i'll have enough budget to go for a 9600 GT or a 4830 HD!

it will also be helpful if someone can tell between the cards!

And i've already asked this in the experts thread....but still.....

should i go for a MB with 8gb ram support or 4gb ram support .....coz wanna know if 4gb of ram is enough for another 1.5 or 2 years.....not gonna upgrade for the mean time

the major application i'm gonna use is CATIA , Solid Works and other CAD stuff and Photoshop etc. otherwise only gaming!

plz help me out here.....

Get the intel proccy. The 4670 card. And 4GB of Ram is more than enough for the next two years.

is the intel processor leaps and bounds powerful than the x2 one or only marginal difference is there?

coz the amd processor costs only around half the price of the intel one.....

I am a Dell employee actually.

I checked for this model a few weeks ago. The idiot rep I use for EPP (employee purchase programme) kept giving me the qoute for 2209W (the TN panel) when I finally mailed her the page from the official Dell site she said she had no idea of that product. I let it be cause I figured I would get it in April instead.

Time to give her a ring again I guess.

Why would you want to install the 64 bit version? Its a peice of junk. Has low compatablility and will cause problems with some games/software. Stick with a single Vista or XP (recommend Vista) 32 bit install. Dual boot just for the sake of it is pointless.

but the 32 bit version os will not detect my 4gb of ram

it will detect and utilize only less than 3 gb of it....thats waste of resourses isn't it?

I think Vista will detect and use all the ram it gets in 32 bit. Upto 4GB AFAIK. And how many applications will need 4 GB? Seriously even with games anything above 3 GB is pointless.

And is it really worth it to have a lower application compatablility with 64 bit OS just so that it will detect extra RAM that will be used once in a blue moon?

some say if u download the sp 1 for vista then it'll detect ur ram.....but i'm not sure.....

but u have a point there.....many of the softwares really aren't supported well enough by 64 bit OS!

well i'll have to decide now whether to remove the 2gb ram module for this or not.....thats a tough call!
