I would actually say go for the 250. Performance wise its about 5-10 percent lower than a 4870 but its about 3k cheaper as well.

Of course if you can fit the 4870 in your budget nothing like it but 250 is a pretty good choice ATM IMO. Also might be worth waiting until April first week for the price cut on the ATI lineup.

xp uses only 2gb

XP x86 uses 3 GB and x64 can use 4 GB, and what is wrong with you why are you suggesting him old cards.. 8800GT, 9800GT, 7950 GX2, when was the last time you went to a computer hardware shop?

Like I said either go for the 250, or like Athek says go for 500GB and 3 GB RAM and get a 4870.

Forget about 8800, 9800 or the 7950.

Edit Don't compromise the LCD. Its one of the core components.

ya don't cut on core component, hell go ahead and buy 2 GB ram, you can always add more later, cut on parts that are easily upgradable later, HDD and RAM being the primamry, look around for a second hard card maybe on Erodov sometime you might just get a sweet deal, sell a console game to make some cash, but def get a good video card.
