ScareZebra
I just discovered this yesterday. I don't know how long has this been goin on but yesterday while changing games discs I happened to touch the metal strip of the attached harddrive and I got a mild shock. It was a faint electric shock but what could be the problem? Will it harm my console. Should I call the customer care?
CarbonCore
Has happened to me as well. Not just the top metal strip, but also the metallic sides of the hard drive gave me minor shock. I guess you better call M$ support before they blame your next RRoD on your power voltage. ScareZebra
I'll definitely call them... But are u saying u got the RROD after u had this problem ??
MarketTantrik
Its not because of the Xbox360, but rather because of improper grounding at the socket that you've plugged your console into. Switch to another socket and see if the problem persists. This is common in India because electricians and building contractors have usually done poor jobs of the electrical work on many of the older buildings. Admittedly, the X360's housing may be suffering some leakages too.

vinitwins
i had made this post about a year back on the old forums http://IndianVideoGamer.proboards104.com/index.c...4363&page=1 (you'll need to login to the old forums to access the thread) basically we had discussed about UPS' and whether the 360 power adapter needed earthing or not (since the final connector has a 2pin plug) V
CarbonCore
I'll definitely call them... But are u saying u got the RROD after u had this problem ?? No, but you do get 4 red flashing lights when there is a power fluctuation. And if you see the power input on the PSU, there is no earthing plug, just the live and neutral plugs. So even if there's a leakage in earthing in your house, you shouldn't get current in 360's casing since its not connected to the third earthing plug. Whatever current leaking to the hard drive is right through the live wire. You better give them a call before something goes wrong.

vinitwins
^ so earthing cant be the issue here - maybe static electricity? V
MarketTantrik
No. Static will only prick momentarily and then gets discharged. This seems like it happens every time he touches it. So its likely to be a leak in the circuitry.
