i had the same problem...i bought this

the image should explain how it works

there are two inputs - you connect your PC's VGA cable and sound connection in one and 360's vga and sound connection in the other

there is one output - it connects to your monitor and the sound output goes to your speakers/headphones

there is a switch that you use to alternate between PC and Xbox 360

peace

Hi Sameer,

I finally got the switch, things worked fine but now the problem is, for my PC, the resolution is messed up, it does not show resolution of my monitor but it shows standard resolution options (no widescreen and all) any ideas? (Resolution for Xbox is perfect)

Regards,

Deep

A quick question:

My 360 is connected to my monitor via the VGA cable....It has 2 wires coming out from it....a red and a white one. What exactly do I need in order to get sound while playing?

Get 2 female to 1 female RCA converter. It should be available in any electronic shop for about 50. The red and the white jacks goes into the two plugs. Your speaker jack goes into the single one.

Best solution (since shops in India rarely use the same lingo) - take your 360 vga cable, and tell him you have to connect it to speakers.

I got one for 20 bucks from pallika. See if you can get someone to send it to you, i would have but i live 1 and a half hours away and i don't plan on going anytime soon. But if you don't get it from anywhere and don't mind waiting a few months ill get one for you the next time i am there.

Yes it can be, you will need some soldering skills though. you will have to slice open the topend of the vga connector so as to expose the concealed pins and wires. Push out the broke pins or replace them and solder them back to it's proper place. Tape the whole thing back up with some industrial grade tape and glue.

Alternatively you can pick up a new vga cable pretty cheap for about Rs. 300-400(Chinese wires, not original)

Hey guys, I recently bought the HD VGA cable and was playing on my 17'' monitor. I used the native resolution of 1280*1024 to begin with and it was all going on well. But when i tried 1024*768 resolution the screen went blank. I tried the reset technique of holding the triggers and pressing the Y button. I tried it at least ten times and the console restarts as if it had reset to 640*480 resolution ie default but still I am not getting the display in my monitor. The sound is coming and it is being very difficult for me to go to the proper menu to manually change the resolution simply by hearing the sound. I tried all the steps as given in MS support. Please guys, your help will be highly appreciated.

Also if any one of you who uses the monitor for gaming can tell me how to access the resolution menu and choosing the 1280*1024 option with sound ie how many times i have to press left anf up etc, it will be deeply appreciated.

Thanks again. :P :P

Try connecting the console to the normal tv and see if it works and then re-connect it to the monitor :

:majesty: :majesty: guys, I tried everything possible for the past 2 hours. No fruit. I am really depressed. I know the console resets to native resolution and I even changed the resolution using sound alone but still the resolutions which seemed to working before i fooled around with 1024*768 resolution, even those are not working now.

I restored my console to factory default setting. Even that has not helped out.

My monitor works fine.

My console works fine with my TV.

The VGA cable outputs audio properly.I use the VGA coupler.

No idea whatsoever!

I have 5 months general warranty intact, but i just bought this cable from GI. Can i call MS and ask them for a new cable? Will it actually work? Help will be deeply appreciated!!!!!!
