The VGA Cable Thread

** 720p is 1360x768 and 1680x1050 can be classified under 16:10 ratio.

My monitor's highest resolution is 1440x900 so i have selected 1360x768. I can select a lower resolution but i will get more grains. Still in some of the games i can make out the grains but its ok because i can't afford an LCD tv so i am happy sticking with my samsung monitor. I am hoping Microsoft adds support for 16:10 in their upcoming dashboard update

hey guys need abit of help, i just set up my 360 with a vga cable, attached with 15pin vga coupler which is then attached to the monitor. now like when the vga cable from the monitor is not attached to the xbox vga cable, the screen is light up (grayish color and a sign saying "no signal" floating around the screen. then when i attach the cables together, the screen goes blank and the monitor light is blinking. this happens when the 360 is on and when its off.

so any advice...... anyone

the monitor is going into sleep mode because it's not recognizing the input signal - possible that your dash is currently set to a resolution/frequency it cant handle - try using your component/RCA cable to set your 360 to 1024x768 (if you are on a sdtv, your screen might go blank - no worries). then reconnect the VGA cable and monitor and test it again... should work.

ok, well, i'm tring it right now. and its not working. i can hear the audio from the from the rca to stereo adapter. i tried it it first on my sdtv, but not sure if it confirmed the change as the screen went blank. then i memorized the sequence and tried it on the monitor. both with the switch thing on the 360 vga cable up and down. and still no change.

could there be an issue with the vga coupler?

oh, im borrowing Vik's official xbox cable.

like i can't hear the sound, so i following the menus via sound, and i do feel like im on the right option, but like the monitor is still on standby.

sometimes a monitor can get stuck in standby mode (when it has recd an unsupported signal input) till it receives a clean VGA signal (6x4 @ 60Hz)
