So, over the weekend luckily i got access to the Stress Test that happened for this game. Unfortunately, due to certain time constraints i couldn't stream the game but i played for some hours to get the feel of it.

Let's over the desert first.

First off, the presentation and visuals are amazing. They might even get better in final build. The build had four characters and two modes. Sub-Zero, Kitana, Liu Kang and Kenshi. I primarily played with Sub, Liu and Kitana. The modes were Tower and Online. I tried online but as expected the latency was too high to be playable. The test was conducted only for 4 regions North America, Latin America, Brazil and Europe hence the high latency. The test was very exclusive.

The gameplay felt like a combination of Mortal Kombat (2011) and Mortal Kombat 11. Liu Kang felt like the easiest character to pick up n play and also who can dish out lot of damage. Kitana was fascinating but felt like she needs some buff. Kenshi seems to have a higher skill ceiling but not something that cannot be mastered by a casual player. And Sub is like how he has always been (If u are a Sub Zero main u know). The Release Check was on in the build so was experiencing slight inconvenience in performing combos but nothing frustrating. The Kameo system is interesting and is a great tool in stringing combos or used on their own. There were only 3 kameos in the build: Jax, Sonya and Kano. Its seems some can be good for aerial combos and some a bit more grounded. But i need to see more kameos to come to a proper conclusion.

Now for the veggies.

The movement system needs work. The dashes felt slow and i was having difficulty getting accustomed to that. I also felt their walk is faster than the dash. Some balance needed. The Jump is a bit floaty but i believe its to perform air combos more efficiently. Maybe some tweak to that can help. The Kameos can get a bit distracting if they are not timed or spaced properly. Watching 4 people performing moves at the same time with effects can be an eye strain sometimes.

Overall i had a good experience playing it and i'm looking forward to the beta in August and also the final build in September. If you have any queries you can ask me.

Since i have pre-ordered this game i got access to its closed beta and i have to say there has been a lot improvement in it compared to the Stress Test. The game seems to be have become moderately fast and the complaint of movement which i and many other players had has been solved to an extent. The Kontrols option is present in beta where i can turn off Release Check and change the button layout etc.

There are 2 additional characters present in the beta namely Johnny Cage and Li Mei plus the 4 characters that were present in the Stress Test i.e., Sub-Zero, Kitana, Kenshi and Liu Kang.

Won't give an in-depth impressions at the moment but i'll be streaming the beta tonight so come by, have a look. Maybe if you are on the fence to purchase it or not, i can be of some assistance.

I love what they did with Johnny Cage in MK1. Definitely my favourite character out of all of them.

His animations are stupidly hilarious and the fighting sequences are a joy to behold. MK1 exceeded my expectations, considering how much I enjoyed SF6. Now that looks like a distant dream.
