Don’t need to watch anything necessarily as MGS3 was designed to be a Standalone Origin Story. But if you really want to play MGS4 & 5 remasters which are imminent in the Collection Volume 2. Zod Posted October 2, 2024 Report Share Posted October 2, 2024 (edited) My first MGS game was MGS4 on PS3 then MGS V. MGS4 i played once and never went back to it. Phantom pain, i played on 3 platforms and got 100% on all 3. Game of Generation for me. I want Death Stranding to have MGSV level of sandbox gameplay. AnK Posted October 2, 2024 Report Share Posted October 2, 2024 MGS4 was a fan service for ppl who wanted an epic conclusion to the entangled story. It had great gameplay but very limited scope. MGSV used that exact gameplay & turned it into a vast scope & endless possibilities to use those espionage action tools. But since the story had already concluded it had nothing much to add apart from the Venom Snake twist. It also took really really long to reach that twist & fans got annoyed to have to play same things over & over to reach it. Both MGS4 & 5 were criticised for entirely different reasons but I feel both were phenomenal. MGS3 will always remain the pioneer project of Kojima till date & was the obvious choice for a Remaster. Games like Infamous,Resistance,KillZone,Ratchet didn’t perform very well on the PS3 to begin with. Did not warrant a redevelopment for PS4 as it wasn’t simple porting.
