er.. im not familiar with the RPG world but isnt that what bioshock was like..? :P

There are some similarities but Bioshock did not have a character leveling system. It just had loot and upgrades.

If you've ever tried Diablo then you'll have a fair idea of what Borderlands is like. Except that it plays like an FPS.

The desolate environments and the lack of proper NPCs in the promos were what made the doubt the game in the first place. I can't imagine it being much fun to trudge through those rocky desert areas alone!

And there is no RP'S'. It's just an empty buzzword, that's all.

An RP'G' is catch all enough. The 'G', or game, could be anything: shooter, platformer, zuma, whatever. The important thing is that the RP portion is satisfied. It looks like Too Human did a much better job as far as the story and role playing is concerned.

ROFL, not after you quoted it :D

And I meant it! Too Human looks like it had more characters to talk to and better hub worlds, etc.

kox since when can u dis a game u have'nt played , dude its an experience for the pc with co op , n dont worry abt the no NPC's on every corner , that sh*t is important in an sp rpg like Fo3

Ps - in kitchen today i got 9/10 in my soup , 9/10 for scotch eggs and 10/10 in my salad :D

I'm talking about solo, not co-op :\

OF COURSE its fun co-op, but is it the same fun solo? That's when you need NPCs and a story to push you. Four player co-op, and you're going to have fun shooting things, role playing or no role playing.

Keyo - doubt it as much as you want to. You probably have your own expectation about games and no one can change that.

For me, Borderlands is exactly what I expected and then some. It's action game first. I don't ever remember Gearbox promising conversations and actual 'role-playing' with this game. Interesting that you brought up Too Human. I actually loved that game regardless of what others felt. Sure it didn't live up to expectations but it was fun while it lasted. Borderlands is MUCH deeper game than Too Human despite being light on the NPC interactions, deeper quests etc (it's also 10 times longer and . The world isn't as bland and desolate as you might expect. There's always something or someone to fight. Little settlements that contain nice loot, unique enemies etc.

Also, unlike most games it gets more fun as you play. I'm at lvl 30 now. Must have put in more than 25-30 hours already and I still can't get enough of it.

RPG for n00bs - Lesson No. 1: Experience and levels

- by Tyler

In RPGs there is something called "Experience" (XP) which you get after you kill enemies or finish quests. Get enough XP and your character will "level up". Each level generally increases your health and other attributes while also giving you points to spend on learning new skills and abilities. So the more you level up the more badass you become.

This is what makes RPGs so damn awesome. You start off as a nobody and end up becoming an unstoppable badass by the end. Now compare that to other games where you play the exact same character from beginning to end. What is more fun? Also killing enemies and finishing quests on RPGs is far more rewarding, since each kill means something. In other games you're simply killing things to advance to the next stage.... boring!
