Has anyone used T.K.'s Wave? I just found that shotgun on my new Soldier. Man it's epic... though a bitch to aim.

Yeah it was fun to use it for a while. But as a Hunter I rarely ever use shotguns. The first time I shot it I was like "LOL WTF is this!?"

Oi Tyler did you get the PC version?

Is it out yet? I was at Prashant's today. Didn't see it.

You gain XP, put skills in your character. Character gains more health and mana.

but..but.. adam..?? in a way isn't that a substitute for xp..? :D

RPG for n00bs - Lesson No. 1: Experience and levels

- by Tyler

In RPGs there is something called "Experience" (XP) which you get after you kill enemies or finish quests. Get enough XP and your character will "level up". Each level generally increases your health and other attributes while also giving you points to spend on learning new skills and abilities. So the more you level up the more badass you become.

This is what makes RPGs so damn awesome. You start off as a nobody and end up becoming an unstoppable badass by the end. Now compare that to other games where you play the exact same character from beginning to end. What is more fun? Also killing enemies and finishing quests on RPGs is far more rewarding, since each kill means something. In other games you're simply killing things to advance to the next stage.... boring!

lol have u never played n mmo achillef

the 'knowledgeable' aspect of my gaming has started since last year only, wen i bot my ps3. in the ps2 days i only played games which the local "cd/games wala" had :band:

did not have teh internet and only very very recently got an hdtv.. so im pretty much a n00b.

As soon as the next n00b question comes up.

but..but.. adam..?? in a way isn't that a substitute for xp..? :D

edit : i started the game on hard and almost sh*t my pants when i had to kill the first big daddy. i almost changed the difficulty back to normal or easy. but later on i even turned off the vita chambers :)

so i was a complete bad a*s by the end :(

In a way, but Adam is like currency with which you buy new powers. It's not exactly like XP. You don't constantly get it after you kill enemies or complete objectives.

Besides, Bioshock has heavy RPG influences so you start as an ordinary guy and end up as a badass by the end. Now compare that to something like Max Payne where Max remains the same as he was in the beginning (apart from the better weapons).

Even games like God Of War feature some basic RPG-like mechanics (the red orbs, upgrades etc).
