GTA IV for PC Release Date Leaked?

German website allows pre-order for the PC version

By: Calin Ciabai, Games Editor

From: http://news.softpedia.com/news/GTA-IV-for-...ked-84459.shtml

Probably all the GTA IV fans are already playing the game on their console of choice, but we should never forget the system

that gave birth to the first Grand Theft Auto title - the personal computers. Even though Rockstar hasn't officially confirmed anything, rumors about an October release date for the game started to be heard quite a while ago. Following the console launch (which is definitely a success), Rockstar should officially confirm the PC version (if it really exists) during the coming weeks.

Until then, we have a German website presenting the Grand Theft Auto IV PC version DVD case, together with a price and, what matters most for all of us: the release date. According to the website, the PC version of Rockstar's title will be made available starting the 30th of November this year. What should normally be a further proof that the date is correct (or, at least, that a PC version is in the works) is the fact that pre-order is available. It remains to see how and if Rockstar responds to this... let's call it "leak". They probably won't be too happy, since the official announcement still has to be made.

However, don't take this date as a sure thing. It could be just an attempt of the website to promote itself or nothing but a misunderstanding. One thing is sure, though: the DVD case presented on the website seems real enough for us to believe it's true. We'll keep an eye on it to see if things change during the following days.

Already considered the Game of the Year, Grand Theft Auto IV has just been released for Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles and received numerous 10/10 reviews. The estimated sales for the first week are only somewhere around $6 million and the game is considered to be the title that will save Take 2 from Electronic Arts' acquisition.

in the second last line they've mentioned the game is expected to make around 6 million $ in 1st week sales.WTF IS THAT?predictions are upto 400 mill $ in first week sales.

In true Shakespearan style.

diablo::Sirrah,did thou get my copy of GTA IV????

Shopkeeper:Nay,sir.

diablo:Speak the truth or thou shall not live to see the morning day

shopkeeper:Sir I am as loyal to you as i am to the ruddy drops which visit my sad heart.

These are dangerous times and the complexion of the sky is just like the game you have to play::most bloody.terrible and violent.

diablo:Hence you saucy fellow.Go hence.

Shopkeeper::nay sir do not blame me.It is not but my fault that gives birth to this error.

..............................to be continued

Umm should i continue????

PS3 Downloadable Content Confirmed

As we all know, the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will be getting exclusive downloadable content sometime after the game's release. As of now though, nothing has been announced for the PS3. Well an article in the latest version of PlayStation World Magazine states that the PS3 will indeed be getting downloadable content. This information comes straight from GTA 4's senior developer, Jeronimo Barrera. No details were given, unfortunately, but that alone is still good news.

Everything after that is purely speculation. The article talks about two possible scenarios, one being that Microsoft only paid for timed exclusivity and the PS3 will eventually be getting the same thing. The other, more realistic scenario, is that the downloadable content will be in the form of PlayStation Home unlockables. Considering that almost every game from here out will have some sort of Home-integration (most being game-themed wallpapers, furniture, etc.), that does make a lot of sense.

Hey guys, I was surprised to find no listing of GTA 4 in the games list. So I thought I might as well start one. For those guys in Mumbai looking for the game, there is good news. It's available at Alfa, Irla Market.

I must confess I have just done about 1.2% of the game yet, coz am having so much fun just driving around and hanging out in Multiplayer. Yes, the multiplayer is something else. In which game can you pick up your friends, go for a drive, then shoot each other in the back to respawn into a impromptu deathmatch? I look forward to fragging all of you guys in the near future, or as they say "ice" you guys...

To get you guys started here are some interesting links...

How Microsoft Used GTAIV To Save The Xbox 360 From Extinction

by Torrence Davis

From: TheBitBag

________________________________________________________

GTAIV is upon us. After several years of holding breath, Rockstar’s Magnum opus is spinning on millions of Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles all over the world. It’s another successful multi-platform release. What gamer isn’t happy at this moment? Some gamers might not realize the fact that GTAIV being released on both of the next gen platforms has leveled the play field for both Microsoft and Sony. If you didn’t know the facts about why PS2 dominated the last generation, you should look at GTA3 as the sole reason.

When Microsoft first stepped into the console gaming arena, they were like a deer caught in the headlights. They gave us this huge VCR sized gaming system with tons of power and slim pickings for content. Everything they did was questioned. The included hard drive and impending pay-per-use Xbox Live was all new territory to console gamers. The only thing to do was sit on the fence and wait. Spec wise, it had much more horsepower than the PS2. People knew this off the bat, but where were the games? Was there going to be anything good coming out of Japan? What 3rd parties were supporting it? Why was Microsoft even bothering with console gaming when they were making so much from their Windows operating system?

A lot of things happened at the time Microsoft came out the gate with the Xbox. Sega had just stopped producing the Dreamcast, Nintendo had a loyal following with the Gamecube and people were still feeling the pain of the PS2 launch. Everyone was waiting for a reason to buy into the next generation hoopla. There were still many PS1 titles being released, but people wanted more Dreamcast because that’s where all the games were at.

In the Fall of 2001, GTAIII blessed itself on the PS2 console. It was a ground breaking game that deserved all of the accolades it was given. This was the first MUST have PS2 title and it was also the first real reason anyone needed to buy a PS2. This game was so important that Sony signed an exclusive deal with Rockstar to c*ck block this game from any other system for an entire year. That decision alone put a stillbirth on Microsoft’s ability to move Xbox consoles off the shelves. Not even Halo was enough to get casual gamers to buy an Xbox. If you were a casual gamer, you were buying a PS2 to not only play DVD’s, but also play GTAIII.

Microsoft didn’t see GTAIII on the Xbox until 2003. It was bigger, better and had more features on the Xbox. It sold very well considering the lower install base of the Xbox. By this time however, it was too late. The PS2 was already dominating the console world. GTAIII was a household name and it was the game that sent the PS2 into celebrity hardware status. Even after the game finally arrived for the Xbox, it continued to sell well on the PS2. Those single console owners that had Xboxes still got a treat with 720p resolution, better textures and reflections, but better hardware never meant better sales.

Microsoft knew better than to let this happen again. This time around they played their cards right. Several SKU’s and RROD’s later, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has become the definitive machine for JRPG’s, shooters, sports and 3D action games. Sony’s PS3 has been playing catch up since it’s launch. Everyone knew that the monster would awaken this year with games like GTAIV, MGS4, GT5P and many others on the horizon. 2008 was supposed to be the year of the PS3 and GTAIV was going to inaugurate it. The only catch here is that this would be the first time that a GTA game would have a simultaneous release on 2 different platforms. Not only that, but Microsoft secured $50 Million dollars of exclusive goodies for the 360 version. They didn’t shut Sony out, but they didn’t leave them with a means to compete on an even level with the same game. I think their intention was to lure fence sitters who were waiting for GTAIV to buy a 360 console instead of a PS3. So far everything has worked well.

The Xbox 360 has a high attach rate so it’s a given that they would sell a lot of GTAIV games. Some people still believe that GTA is recognized as a Playstation brand and will buy a PS3 to play it. What Sony didn’t realize is like GTAIII, this could have been their chance to blow past Microsoft. For Sony to not secure any exclusive deals with GTAIV, they have broken their momentum. They have given Microsoft too much room to shoot. Microsoft took advantage of that and have very strong sales of the GTAIV game and will have more coming this August to those lucky 360 owners. Whether Microsoft realizes it or not, just by having the GTAIV game on 360, they have secured a long and healthy life for the system.

You can’t deny that their are PS2 owners that have bought 360’s. The market is split like it’s never been before. Neither Sony or Microsoft have any IP’s that can quickly push them ahead one way or the other. It’s going to take some severe price dropping to pull out ahead. The only question now is can Sony afford another price drop this year? If so, are they ready to compete with a Premium 360 at a $299 price point? Only time will tell.

Top Five craziest sh!t to do in GTA IV

May 5th, 2008 · 19 Comments

by Lono

From: http://sarcasticgamer.com/wp/index.php/200...-in-gta-iv.html

Well, you’ve just stolen your umpteenth car for Brucie, taken Michelle to the Chicken Shack and banged her like a drum for the tenth time… What now? Instead of the single player missions, I’m gonna give you a top 5 things to do when you’re not performing a single player mission.

Number 5

Ladies of the night. Whether it’s the strippers or the hookers, Rockstar has made sure that Niko’s nookie is taken care of. Sure, there’s lots of variations on this one, like find all of the different types of hookers, kill the hookers, or run the hookers down. Then go to the strip club and, of course, shoot up the strip club, kill the strippers, run the strippers down, or check out the different lap dances, but it all boils down to finding the ladies.

Number 4

Got this extremely fun activity from Rothbart. He likes to steal a motorcycle then drive as fast as possible into oncoming traffic and see how far he can jettison Niko. Then he gets up and tries it again. There are obvious variations on this one, such as jettisoning yourself from a fast car, or jettisoning yourself from a helicopter.

Number 3

Stunt jumps. Just like number 4, but you try and survive these jumps. There’s about fifty, or so, unique stunt jumps to find and clear in Liberty City. Some are easy to find, while others are difficult to locate. Some jumps are easy to clear, others aren’t. I guarantee you won’t clear a lot of the jumps on your first time through. Check out the roofs of parking garages and construction areas. They’re your best bet to find the choice jumps in Liberty City.

Number 2

Sociopathic behavior. I know I’m a sick and twisted soul, but I wanted to know if anyone else did strange stuff in Liberty City in between missions. I asked for suggestions from the SG writers. Some gave me the obvious fare, hookers, stunt jumps, etc… Others, well, lets just say that sometimes, I’m glad I don’t know what these guys do in their spare time.

Rothbart: “I like to hang out at the train station and push people in front of the trains.”

Animathias: “Stalking ATM’s and waiting for people to withdraw money before you kill them is pretty cool and you can usually get $100 bucks, or more, from your target.”

I’m not really above the occasional sociopathic/psychopathic behavior myself. In between missions, I enjoy trying to shoot motorcycle riders in the face. Score a headshot…. Get a motorcycle. Eh…It’s a moving target, so it keeps my skills sharp. I have no other excuse… I’m a menace to society, what can I say?

Number 1

Getting six stars and running like hell. What the heck else would it be? Here’s a tip to get six stars as fast as possible: Shoot a cop, then try to get past a road block. Road blocks can be tough to get past, so get a small, fast car or motorcycle and cruise around either the right or left side of the road block, where there’s usually a gap wide enough for a car to get through. Instant six star pursuit in less than 45 seconds.

Once you get six stars, here’s some fun scenarios:

Get six stars and steal the FIB “Charger.” It’s fast as hell and can take a beating.

Get six stars and try to make it to the airport and steal a chopper. Doing this with less than six stars isn’t the same.

Get the achievement for staying alive for more than five minutes with six stars. Don’t even try to lie. I know you haven’t done it yet…
