For those who have been wondering if sparing the life of one of the secondry characters earlier on in the game matters, well, the answer is, it matters for those playing the Xbox 360 version of the game.

 

if you spare the guy, you get to meet him as one of the random characters in the game later on. And there is an achievement for meeting al random characters in the game.

I don't think that Achievement is linked to the random characters you can kill/save. AFAIK you'll get it either way.

The level of detail in the models is so unreal, I mean, real!

 

Good job GTAIV team.

 

 

 

It shouldn't be long before a gaming engine can accurately render an entire city complete with Google Maps powered GPS and realtime feeds for weather, traffic, stocks..

Love the pics above. I was roaming around the Exchange area and kept thinking - this would be J&R, the church near my office, here's where I take the turn to go to the ferry, this is where I ran through crappy rain to catch the Chinatown bus.

GTA IV's awesomeness is creating an entire believable city. The rest of the stuff in the game pales in comparison. But they've done it so well that it does not seem as if the game is just a vehicle to show off the virtual NYC.

More than 30 hrs into the game, I took a boat ride with Brucie and his arm candy at sunset. The water really really looks gorgeous. The setting sun realistically sparkling the water with windows in the sky scrapers in the distance lighting up... It really was breathtaking.

 

Those who think the game doesn't look good need to experience moments like these. I don't think I've seen water look this good in any other game. Not even Bioshock(only comparing the first plane crash level. The other environments are absent in GTA 4).

 

Also during the return trip in the boat, the sun had set completely and the whole city was lighted up - the buildings, the bridges, the statue of liberty.. and everything reflected oh so realistically..

 

Another thing that looks and sounds awesome in the game is the fire.. and of course the explosions! My favourite pastime is not going on rampages mowing down people.. it is shooting up cars till they catch fire and watching them explode . Don't know how many of you noticed this but the cars catch fire much faster if you shoot around the petrol tank area - above the rear wheels.. Again the flickering swaying flaming effect is done better than any other game I've seen..

Is nico hardwired to be a thief?

whenever i try to hail a cab, he robs it(except for the cabs that Roman sends which has locked doors).this means i have to drive myself across the city every time i want to do a task and thats damn annoying.I know i'm supposed to go near the cab and press Y(after LB), but this triggers him to rob the car.can someone help me?

Keep pressing that button... atleast in the ps3 one... we are supposed to keep pressing the triangle to get in as a passenger.

and do remember to call for the cab before embarking on it.......

btw did any 1 else notice tht when u drink and drive u r wanted level becomes 1star.........or may be i just smashed into a cop car after drinking all tht rum/beer/whiskey/vodka/bhang

Yes, you get chased by cops for DUI. It's always better to hail a cab, more so if you are on a date.

 

Both in GTA4 and in real life.

I am seriously loving this game now. The pace picks up after 1-2 hours and now it's damn fun to play this game. BTW, went to Cabaret Club with Michelle yesterday. It was pretty fun although the second act was crap!

dude just visit the comedy club in alonquin ............its nice, better than perestrokia,

I am very disappointed with the lap dances.....all the dancers look similar and have the same voice!!!

But other than that this game is awsome...i finished the story 3 days ago and now i am just roaming around looking for stuntjumps n doing those "Friend" missions.

i dont knw abt u , but most of the dancers i met were varied in thier skin color, body type and voice tone.................i dont see the point in completing the game so early.........i am in the game for abt 30 hrs but i have balanced the missions and ancillaries like dating, side missions and bowling...........i am quite hooked to bowling, its so fun
