Braid lasts for 2-5 hours and the platforming / puzzling gets you hooked right from the get go.

GTA4 forces you to play through a whole bunch of samey missions before you get the cookie.

Read EVERYTHING:

Example: You just cannot watch 2001: A Space Odyssey and based upon the introductory Dawn of Man sequence call it a bore. Sure it goes on for as long as it would take to watch an episode of your favorite show on the teevee, but the payoff is worthwhile once you get past the setup.

If you insist on popcorn entertainment, you'll miss out. Thats all I'm saying. Also, I was comparing Braid in terms of substance, NOT LENGTH. You cant compare a $100 Million magnum-opus to a 2-5 hour $180,000 indie effort. Not in terms of game length anyway, feel free to use my lead and go for the substance comparison. [Edit: And they're priced differently to boot, GTA cannot rationalise a 2-5 condensed experience for $60]

And regarding the samey missions, I mentioned constraints didn't I? GTA has to be structured a particular way, or it doesn't work at all. It is grand-theft-auto after all.

GTA IV DLC is "More Missions nnd New Characters"

"Grand Theft Auto’s most famous DJ has begun talking about the series again, this time giving a little detail on what fans can expect from the forthcoming Xbox 360 exclusive downloadable content.

While appearing on the US-based “Opie and Anthony Show”, Lazlow Jones said that the DLC is “more missions and a bunch of other content”. He expands his revelation by claiming that the release will also see the addition of new characters to the Liberty City world.

Xbox Live members will be able to get their hands on the content some time in the next few months, although a precise release date has yet to be pinned down by either Rockstar or Microsoft."

I still can't believe there are so many people who hate this game. It's mature in the same way something like Braid or SotC is. As with anything that requires a bit of thought, you really need to stick with it. You don't really 'get' the non-relationship undertones Braid throws at you till you play the epilogue (and even then you'll need to dig around a little), and ditto with SotC until the very end. In the same same way, you need to wait till Niko finds "that special someone" before the whole futility of combat subtext comes out. And when it does come out, it's handled in the best way possible. I loved the small touches like him turning off the radio to introspect, etc. You have to keep in mind that videogames as a medium functions under some pretty big constraints, and more-so for a open-world gangland game like GTA.

Example: You just cannot watch 2001: A Space Odyssey and based upon the introductory Dawn of Man sequence call it a bore. Sure it goes on for as long as it would take to watch an episode of your favorite show on the teevee, but the payoff is worthwhile once you get past the setup.

GTA IV Trophies To Be Released Monday 27th October

If you are on Rockstar Games’ mailing list, you should’ve received the information that the much awaited trophies for Grand Theft Auto IV are coming out on Monday, October 27. The trophies won’t be retroactive though, meaning it won’t just unlock the trophies by loading your save file. Well have fun starting over!

Will you start over just for the sake of trophies?

Given that this game is insanely long, I for one wouldn't want to start all over again. Maybe when I get back to playing GTA IV after, I dunno, a year maybe, I'll be tempted. For now, I'd rather just buy a new game which includes trophy support out of the box.
