And this wasn't an issue with previous GTA games? I LOL at you two.

L-O-L.

It was. But the missions themselves never reached to the point of being frustrating. GTA IV decided to make the shooting a lot more difficult while throwing in a completely unintuitive cover system. Not only that but the driving controls were also made 'realistic'. Don't even get me started on how Niko keeps getting stuck in the environment every time you want him to hurry and chase someone down.

Compare that to Saints Row 2 and it's easy to see which game is more "fun".

Also it was 2008, Rockstar could have easily made the gameplay more accessible by throwing in checkpoints in the missions. I could live with that in the previous GTAs because at that time there were almost no other quality sandbox crime games (Mafia doesn't count as a sandbox game).

@Billy, like I said, I loved GTA IV's story and characters and I really want to like the game so I could see how the story ends. But some of the missions are just too frustrating to keep starting all over again.

But this isn't about 2008 or Saints Row or anything else. You two were making direct comparisons between SA and IV :naughty:

Missions in San Andreas were a lot longer and a lot more frustrating than in IV. Not only did you have to drive cross country, but the missions were also multi-tiered so failing one section meant having to re-do EVERYTHING again, including the driving.

IV was also a lot easier. I never failed missions in the same frequency as I did in SA.

Just looked up some info on the game:

- Pause screen shows you car damage, player damage and secondary objectives

- Golfing minigame

- Get drunk off your mind and you wake up in random funny places on the map.

- Basejumping points on the map give you proper base jumping animations and effects. No more jump button+normal fall.
