GTA IV will sell six million in one week

 

 

Games industry analyst Michael Pachter has claimed Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) will sell six million copies in its first week of sale.

 

He added that he expected the title would likely reach the nine million mark during its first year.

 

Mr Pachter, of Wedbush Morgan, also predicted GTA IV will be responsible for recouping $450 million (£221 million) of Take2's expected $1.073 billion (£0.52 billion) revenue in 2008, generating a total of $135 million (£66 million) of the firm’s overall profit.

 

The series has become one of the most popular franchises in gaming history, with Rockstar able to hire the vocal talents of Samuel L Jackson, Ray Liotta and Peter Fonda on its strength.

 

Debuting in 1997 in 2D, the original game was designed by Lemmings creator Dave Jones. At the time of writing, more than 65 million copies of the GTA series have been sold.

 

The release date for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions has been confirmed for April 29th. As yet, there is no news of when the PC will get its own edition, or how easy modding the game will be.

Also in the single player mission "hangmans Noose" there will be co-op, the mission you and your friends will be able to escort a mafia man, while ambushed by the SWAT,

good observation dude. Also, there's a rumor on some gta forums that the sixth wanted star is phased out - which means no military/tanks !

I thought I read somewhere that the Wanted Level stars were integrated with the map in the HUD. This one seems a bit odd and stands out like a sore thumb.

 

I don't suppose the stars seen in the screenshot are the Wanted Level ones. If so, then where is the rest of the HUD?

By the way, if any of you lot played Driver: Parallel Lines you'll already know how the radial awareness system that the fuzz are going to use works.

 

@XephY: That screenshot looks a bit raw anyway, like the filters or post-fx haven't been rendered in or something. Oh and the statement I made was not directed at anyone in particular. I've always felt that the art design in a GTA game is its most satisfying aspect. I'll take Chuck D on the radio over fancy graphics any day of the week.

I think I'll have to cancel my preorder for the x360 version and buy a ps3 to play this game. I'll be all :cursing: if my x360 RRODs in the middle of the game !

the thought of Sony's pathetic customer service and high failure rate of 60GB versions is what made me avoid it. Otherwise, your offer was extremely tempting....but oh well....I also didn't know my 2nd x360 would RROD and this time the customer service would delay the process !
