It's been a staple of the series - massive graffiti advertisements and Grand Theft Auto simply fit hand in hand. Grand Theft Auto IV has just received the royal treatment, with the latest massive Grand Theft Auto advertisement completed.

Head down to Greene St & Canal, New York City, and you'll be greeted with this lovely lady:

She didn't just appear overnight however. Check out these pictures which should represent the actual scale and progress of the project.

As protagonist Nico Bellic, you'll roam the streets of Liberty City in classic GTA style. While the ad may be finished, Grand Theft Auto IV is far from complete - we'll be looking for that special someone around Spring 2008.

Heh Heh !! Imagine this ad hovering over Marine Drive or Hauz Khas :rofl2:

some info from gameplayer preview of GTA 4. The entire article is 4 pages long, and can be read here:

http://www.gameplayer.com.au/Home/PREVIEWS...3&v7Pager=1

I've put some excerpts here point wise, which I feel are new info. Enjoy :)

1. The Liberty City of GTA IV is absolutely massive, roughly equivalent to the area of San Andreas but far more densely packed with architecture and sprawling streets. Often taxis will be your best bet, given that car-jacking is now punished more fiercely by the local law enforcement – especially if someone’s in the car when you jack it.

2. While GTA IV will retain the six-star wanted system from previous games, it’s not as simple as just bombarding the player with kamikaze cop cars and SWAT helicopters the more carnage they create. This time the wanted level is also dependent on line of sight. For example, if a police officer spots you changing cars whilst you’re on the run, the search will then re-focus based on your last known whereabouts and thus make getaways more challenging and realistic than fans have come to expect.

3. Niko’s inventory will potentially be visible on his body.

4. This is 2007 in Liberty City, and you can’t just walk into an Ammunation in the middle of the city and pick yourself up a rocket launcher. In the Liberty City of GTA IV you’ve got to know where and from whom you can buy the serious artillery, whether it’s from dodgy basement operations, car trunks or survival nuts in the city’s outskirts. According to Rockstar, guns are precious commodities that won’t be easy to acquire.

5. GTA IV offers two kinds of targeting; a simplified lock-on system for the casual gamer and dual analogue-based free aiming for the more experienced player. A cover system will also be introduced into the game, allowing Niko to peek around corners and take cover behind cars, for example.

6. Niko’s mobile phone is crucial to the entire GTA IV experience. Not only can you use it to contact and set up meetings and arms deals with cohorts such as Little Jacob, but you also rely on it as your daily calendar and organiser, camera and gateway to the game’s multiplayer mode (you can even send text messages with it).

7. In past GTA games the player has always accepted missions, but now with the addition of the mobile phone the player chooses when, where and how the missions will begin, thus you’re actively participating in telling the story.

8. The in-game Internet acts as a discovery tool and an information aggregator for what’s been happening in the city. It’s also another communication tool for Niko to utilize with in-game email. Meanwhile on the real life Internet, Rockstar recently launched website www.WKTTRADIO.com which offers a US phone number for fans to dial and leave a talk back radio rant, the best of which will presumably end up on the in-game radio station. Cool, eh?

9. Also new to the GTA experience in GTA IV are waypoints, which the player can use in order to plot routes on the map and navigate their surroundings.

10. Rockstar stresses that GTA IV can’t be described as a feature list, what makes the game so incredible is the sum of its parts – when you step into the shoes of Niko Belic and experience Liberty City and all it has to offer, that’s when you’ll fully realise and appreciate that everything in GTA IV has been crafted as a result of a very clear and thoughtful design process.

GTA IV Delayed again? Falling out of Q2 2008 window

http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_ent...pic_id=26028353

Source: A daisy-chain of blog entries, forum posts, and news reports that stem back to a piece on British industry site Gamesindustry.biz.

What we heard: On the morning of August 2, eager gamers were still saving their pennies so they could pick up Grand Theft Auto IV on October 16. However, by the afternoon, the same would-be virtual carjackers were aghast upon hearing Grand Theft Auto IV had been pushed back until the second quarter of 2008.

The delay was especially shocking because the game looked nearly done at the E3 Media & Business Summit in July. It also went against precedent. Since Grand Theft Auto III hit shelves on October 22, 2001, Rockstar Games has stuck religiously to each GTA release date it has announced. Traditionally, that date has been in October, the last month of the fiscal year of Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

Today, though, came a flurry of reports that raised the prospect that the game might slip yet again from its Q2 2008 window. The reports stem back to Gamesindustry.biz's summation of a presentation at yesterday's 2007 BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Summit in New York City. At the event, which was convened by the titular financial firm, a number of luminaries shared their thoughts on the state of the game industry. The speakers included THQ president and CEO Brian Farrell, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, and Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

Also on-hand was Strauss Zelnick (pictured), the recently installed chairman of Take-Two Interactive. Over the course of his 22-minute presentation, which showed off the latest 2K Games and 2K Sports titles, the executive was asked point-blank by an analyst about the status of GTA. British site Gamesindustry.biz pulled some quotes from Zelnick's response and said he "refused to narrow down a release period" for the game. That report was then picked up by the online edition of UK game trade MCV, which trumpeted the fact that Zelnick "won't commit to any date or time period" for GTAIV. Given that many US sites pounce on anything coming out of Europe, the news soon mutated into various reports, blog entries, and forum posts implying GTAIV might not make its Q2 release.

Looks like this game may not see the daylight until Fall 2008
