R.P.M
My ps3 was on the xmb screen today and the electricity suddenly went off. So i switched off the main switch and waited for the electricity to come back. once the elec was back i switched on the main power and the switch on the ps3. Suddenly it stopped responding. Only the red standby light shows. I have tried the following: Taken off the main power plug and reconnecting switching the main power and swtich off and on multiple times using the remote to swtich on the ps3 connecting the remote via usb to try to swtich it on Please note that i do use a power surge protector but no UPS. HAs this happened to anyone before? is there something i can try? getting really worried now. Console is a NTSC singapore console 40gb black bought in nov 07. AtheK
i had a similar problem in which it used to be on red light the issue ended up being a PSU issue and i had to open it up and change a couple of capacitors...It was due to electric surge. Dr.Hojay
have you tried holding down the power button the ps3 itself ..? hold it down for about 5 seconds ..it's meant to reset it ... if it's fried then the lights shouldnt come on ... but i'm not an electrician or anything so dont take my word for it ...and you should get it reparied by an authorized ..er ...person.. rAgHaV
when there's a power cut you cant turn it on back using the controller.. you will have to turn it manually using the touch pad on the console..

Rashmeet
sony inida will not touch a foreign ps3.They only replace ps3's bought officially from sony india well...they did repair my ntsc-j ps2 by charging some money....so they might repair by charging something although replacing is a strict no-no
dislike
well...they did repair my ntsc-j ps2 by charging some money....so they might repair by charging something although replacing is a strict no-no they only do it for ps2.That too seems to be impossible.Sony india never repairs any playstation console for that matter. They only replace. This is what Mr Sarabjith Singh(A person who is holding a top post at sony india told me)
vebk
Dude, pls read carefully. He said he will get it checked "at the sony unauthorised repair center"!! So no problems there - hopefully it's a smal (and cheap) repair job. OP, you may want to read the couple of threads about putting your ps3 on a UPS for future reference. Can save you a lot of headache.
R.P.M
@vebk - the electricity failure happens maybe twice a year max for about 30 mins or so. Unfortunate that my ps3 happened to be on at that point of time. will post a report once i get it sorted out.
