I got my Jasper arcade from the US less than a month ago and I was royally pissed of when one of my expensive game DVD got a couple of scratches (I have a 2 year old daughter). There was no way I was going to spend 2-3 grand on a game just to loose it becuase of a few accidental scratches. Thankfully the disk is still working fine so I went ahead and got the hardware required to flash my liteon so that I can play a backup on it.

It was pretty nerve wrecking as I never even opened an Xbox before. But reading a lot helped. So went ahead and flashed it and now my backup works fine :-) From now on the original discs will only be used to make a copy never to actually play. That way when I want to sell the original it will be in mint condition :-)

Tell me about it. My NG2 disc got scratched and now it wont play at all. It is pretty nerve wrecking experience more than infamous RRoD imo.

Exactly. The most shittiest (ungrammatical I know :-) feeling is when you see a scratch on a console DVD. The game developers dont even give cheaper alternative to replace a scratched disc.

console is more than one year old and disc scratching is not RRoD. are you telling me to lie to them?

Scratchy Edit: and whats the guarantee that the replaced console will not scratch the game discs?

dude ,install the game in hard disk and play, best solution for u,btw u should have 3months warranty on software?

well, now you can install games on xbox 360. So the problem of scratching discs should be more or less solved.

First of all, that bitch scratched the disc atfer three months. So warranty gone for a toss. Hard disc installation may minimize the disc scratching but cant prevent coz it still needs to read from the disc from time to time.

And with just 20gb space, HDD installation is pretty cumbursome. You have to uninstall something and then install what you want to play. Bigger HDD is selling at ridiculously high price.

I got my ps3 upgradred to 320gb at just 3.5 k. And you know the x360 120gb HDD price, dont you?

Just say it is rrod they dont even check. I read smwhere that rrod heat may affect the drive and lead to scratching
