shockwave
One of the best games of all times for me, not just this generation. My favorite moment of the game has to be when Marston reaches Mexico and then Far away kicks in the background. What a relevant and fantastic song. I felt goosebumps (and felt that too many times in this game). Everything just slowed down for me there, or rather paused. And R* lets you experience it in the best way possible. No cutscene, not even a single dialogue. Nothing between you and the splendid wilderness. It was a beautiful moment & certainly one of the most memorable one for me in gaming. devil_angel
Yeah what Ty said. A linear game just wouldnt be the same. The first time you crest the hill going to Armadillo from the Mcfarlane Ranch and see the sun rising and world stretched out in the distance with the river sparkling.... its an awe inspiring sight. Probably the best pure visual moment of this gen. Yeah the gameplay is still repetitive and controls never feel fluid but the setting saves the game. I did that at around 1.00 AM......silly me
ThE JuGgErNaUT
How can you judge that without even starting the game. If you generally feel so about open world games, why buy the game in the first place? wasn't judging the game bro, just apprehensive cause didnt really like the open world concept whr i'd played. (barely a game or two) @Juggernaut - the open world is what MAKES a game like RDR. Without it it would have been a Call Of Juarez in third-person... with a better story. This isn't a game which simply tacks on a sandbox environment over a linear narrative but the environment itself is a part of the experience. If someone asks me to name a definitive open world game - I'd point them towards RDR. yea, tried for like 5 mins last nite.....agree with tht environment part man. but hate the controls...... shooting the coyote's ws a pain (reminded me of shooting trouble's in gta4)
Big Boss
but hate the controls...... shooting the coyote's ws a pain (reminded me of shooting trouble's in gta4) There is auto targeting. How is it a pain?
ThE JuGgErNaUT
There is auto targeting. How is it a pain? i'm a purist (guess thts why loved MW1 on PC) half the fun & skill is in aiming man Edited November 17, 2011 by ThE JuGgErNaUT
Maximus
Still get goosebumps thinking about when we are to return home after the "assumed last mission" and the background score churns up. Really guys I can't afford another playthrough of this due to backlog and pre-orders. Try and keep this thread silent.

Tyler
i'm a purist (guess thts why loved MW1 on PC) half the fun & skill is in aiming man This isn't a pure shooter so comparing it with COD is a little unfair. The auto targeting is there for a reason. Many times you have to fight on horseback and it's impossible to aim while doing that. The sticky aiming actually works quite well without getting too frustrating. Besides once you have dead eye maxed you can pretty much do anything... like shooting three angry bears in the eye in quick succession. VelivolusDas
My favourite track from the game is "Compass". It plays when Marston kills Dutch Van Der Linde and the agent tells him the location of his wife and kid.... And I just sit on my horse and rush towards the marker on the map..... I don't even care about the routes or how I get there..... I justt wanna get there..... And while riding, I see the sun setting and the song plays in the background..... Simply stunning..... :majesty:

Tyler
^^ No it isn't but you can unlock some rewards and upgrades if you complete the challenges. If you're really worried about your backlog my suggestion would be to leave this game now and come back later when you don't have much to play. This is one game that should not be rushed through. True, game is more fun when you completely immerse yourself in its atmosphere, I've spent hours and hours just playing poker and blackjack in this game.
