John marston is so much diplomatic and polite lol, it's kinda wierd though but this game has such a good story, just wanna keep on playing, much much better than GTA 4.

Drunken Irish character in 'Red Dead Redemption' causes outrage

It is expected to be one of the best selling action adventure video games of all time, but just-released Wild West game "Red Dead Redemption" has Irish media outraged at a drunken Irish character who is inebriated and abusive all the time.

 

Irish, the character's name, is "usually found stumbling around and getting into trouble with sober townsfolk while attempting to talk his way out," says the text. That's because he's the town drunk.

 

"The stereotype of the drunken Paddy will again be taken advantage of," said Dublin's Evening Herald, noting the game will be played by millions of kids worldwide. They also called it a "nasty surprise."

 

The headline reads "Irish 'drunk' sours launch of hit game," and there has been a widespread pick up in the press of the allegations about the drunken Irish character.

 

"It is an outrageous slur, especially as we know schoolchildren will be playing this and they will be seeing a stereotype of the drunken Irish?" said commentator David Hogan.

 

"This game is a disgrace. Would they have black characters selling watermelon or Jewish characters lending money, of course not. But it seems-okay to slur the Irish.

Trees looked crap even on GTA4 , hell even the PC version trees were crap as well , a mod was released which replaced the tress which made them look respectable.

Joy had replied with dat when i mentioned how ugly the trees were in RDR. So, instead of an explanation or comment on why the"ugly trres in RDR", he replied stating dat how ugly da trees were in an older game by da same developer(considering da two teams as 1- Rockstar) and an older engine(since its been tweaked for RDR).

I think dats ironic. I'm not sure tho. Here are some quotes wich make me believe its ironic...

Here is an example if irony-

 

If you see a fat person deciding to give his heart a break for once and instead of going to KFC, he crosses the road to get to the salad bar and is then run down by a truck transporting diet pills. this is ironic.

 

See, fat guy, finally trying to cut down on food that will kill him and going to healthy stuff that would probably prolong his like and getting killed in process. This is irony.

Isnt it ironic that the graphics of a latest game are equal to the graphics of a much older game? And the fact that someone is trying to defend(not really, but still) the latest game's not so impressive graphics by stating that the older game had crappy graphics as well?

^I think this idea contradicts the notion/expectance of gamers for better graphics from newly released games against old games. This contradiction, makes me feel that joy was being ironic.

I think this irony is in a bit more complex form when compared to ur 'fat guy gets run over by diet pills truck', which is obviously a very basic form of an irony.
