Ne0
edited by: HundredProofSam guys, i understand that the ring of death/three red lights is a major issue, but lets not all open our own individual thread when we have this problem (because im sure we've all had it at some time.....if u haven't, you will lol).....im making this the standard Ring of Death thread....all future threads will be moved into this one ============================ hi, the day before i was playing bioshock and in the middle of the game, the x360 started with the three redlights and the ctrlr vibrating continiously. the tv output was lost. i just shutdown the x360 and restarted it and it has been working fine from then on. is this something to be concerned about ? i havent faced this problem till now. i played for some time after that it seems to be working fine. should i call the MS support ? is this normal ? pls advice ! vinitwins
^ loose connections give 4 red lights... sounds more like an overheating problem to me. V
MarketTantrik
Maybe the AV connector was loose. Make sure that its pushed in firmly.
Ne0
^^ i thought so too, what suprised me was that i didnt get the sod screen with the error code ! the output was just lost....what im worried is, can some component partially melt/be destroyed with this overheating, u know something like a ticking timebomb - never know when it fully goes off ! and will this cause any problem to my game disc ? P.S: Excuse my paranoia !
vinitwins
i think some games stress the 360 more than others - so it's better to keep it well ventilated, especially since the latter half of sep & full month of oct are killer hot! Ne0
^^ hmmm ok. so no need to call up MS support as of now right ? I've kept my xbox 360 in the open, so np should be there with ventilation.
Overclocked
Ne0ViniT Mate the same thing happened to me while playing darkness last month... first time i saw 3 Red lights , just turned off and on again and it worked well for one week.. after week it started to freeze in every game just after 4-5 mins of gameplay.. and eventually 3 Red lights came back again and i had to call MS Support... hopefully will recieve my box in next 2 weeks.. so be carefull.. the only way i guess now is to give it proper time to get cool after every hour of gameplay.. Shicko
I just got the three red lights on saturday and I called MS today so they can help me get my console replaced. They asked for my details and put me in hold for 15 mins and afterwards gave me this "Number" and told me someone would get in touch with me again. Now Im kinda worried because I've heard alot of stories that they've had alot of issues at the moment with replacing consoles. Has anyone recently had their console replaced? and if so, how long did it take and was it a smooth process? I searched some other threads on the forum to see if anyone commented about the MS customer service but I couldn't find anything...so...Here I am. The reason im asking is because I just pre-ordered halo 3...and I really really want to play it on release day. Im going to die if my xbox is still dead by then. Thanks guys. gooner4life
I had my console replaced 1 time before and they replaced it within 3 days after I registered the complaint...but now I have again got the same problem of 3 red lights... I have again registered the complaint with them today and hopefully would get the console by thursday/friday. By the way can the power supply of xbox 360 be bought separately and what if the disk drive stops working and the console is out of warranty period???Can any other disk drive be used???
