Somebody
The History Of The Defective Xbox 360 How, exactly, did Microsoft wind up shipping a notoriously defective Xbox 360, resulting in thousands upon thousands of gamers burning through temporarily working consoles and over a billion dollars in warranty expenses? That's largely answered in Venture Beat's massive feature on the birthing pains of the console, one designed under the gun and hastily revised with a software "ship and patch" philosophy. Venture Beat's Dean Takahashi talks to numerous on- and off-the-record sources close to the manufacturing of the Xbox 360, providing insight into how ill-conceived certain aspects of the first-to-launch console were. For example, VB writes that in August of 2005, just prior to launch, some 68% of consoles coming off the assembly line just didn't work. It's a fascinating read, from the console's early engineering gaffes and compromises, to Microsoft's reluctant admission of defective hardware. Some of it may be familiar territory, but it's a comprehensive look at the console's history, if nothing else. Suhas
E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. (this could also be a problem with the internal AV encoder chip) So check your cables, or try / get a new one.

pup11
Guys i have a modded 360, and i bought it last year somewhere around in July, till now it was going great never had any problems, it wasn't in use for the last 20-25 days but when i took it out and started it today, it flashed the dreaded RROD, i restarted it and then the dashboard appeared, i inserted a game dvd and after 2 or 3 minutes the game freezed and then when i restarted it again, it again flashed the RROD. I have been trying to restart it again and again but the console hangs after every 2-3 minutes, so guys what are the options i have now, because can't ask MS to repair it, so should i get it repaired from some shop in Palika and would that fix this problem for good, or else what should i do?? Becasue yeah i did buy an original 360 with bill and then got it modded, but i am not sure i even have the bill now, so if i am able to find the bill then it would be great, but otherwise what else can i do, if i get it repaired how many bucks would i have to shell out for that. pup11
I didn't register my console and so without any bill if i have to get it repaired what would be the cost for that, and does getting it repaired from outside really work? pup11
The helpline nerds told me "a modded console won't be replaced or repaired by them, as it is against their company policy", really pissed at myself atm.

pup11
Nah.. the console is legit, i just screwed myself up by getting it modded, anyways guys as i asked you before is getting it repaired from Palika ok, i mean would that fix the problem, and how much moolah would i have to shell. And one more thing am i better off buying a new 360 instead of repairing this one, as i heard somewhere that the RROD problem is no longer there in the newer one', is it true?? pup11
wtf...why did u tell them its modded? I misinterpreted your post and i thought that MS were even taking the modded 360' back, i know its lame but i think someone is just pulling your leg, from what i have seen and heard if you send a modded 360 to MS (without telling them of course) leave alone them sending you a new 360 in some instances they don't even send back your modded console.
