Fantastic game, powerful, emotional journey, not about politics or agendas, but about one man confronting the full spectrum of who he is. Rarely does a game ask you to question not just your choices, but your very identity.
The Alters isn’t really about Survival, it’s about facing the versions of yourself that never got a chance. 

It's like I cloned my regrets, gave them jobs, and now they’re unionizing. 

Solid story, characters (which are you) are very well written. Don't go in looking for gameplay, the loop is just getting more resources, the real work is holding your base, alters and yourself together. Something rarely a game does. 

If you like emotional games then I suggest you shouldn't miss this.

Around 15-20 hours for one complete playthrough, the platinum took me around 80 as you need multiple playthroughs. Different endings and all are worth getting.

Played for sometime yesterday and today.  Cloned the first alter, definitely one of the unique settings I’ve played so far.  Only gripe so far is that the game doesn’t do a good job of instructions, had to look into videos online on how to complete some of the tasks.

What? The tasks descriptions are way too clear. Understand how your ark works. If you do it right you'll be just giving instructions and rest will be done by your alters.

Still haven’t reached that stage, just started act 1.  For ex, the game didn’t say to mine organic metal I had to go to the place where installed the device and do it manually.  I was thinking it would transport it on its own since I connected it with the base.  Had to yt and find this out.

You have to it manually every time until you get the auto system up and running but that happens at very end.

Yes, it can be a bit confusing if you don't go through the database. I strongly suggest you go through each sections of database, it's a unique game so we need to learn about it first.

 

I was really fascinated how different the game is. 11 bit studios definitely has talented team and always comes up with different concepts.

Honestly, if you ask me the auto mining is a total waste of your planetary samples, they're very inefficient and your team (alters) does a far better job. I suggest you go with the other upgrades.
