Gaming in India is nothing, trust me nothing in comparison to the American, Japanese gaming. Their numbers are just too high. Once we have tangible number of gamers someone will step forward.

Edit: @Diēnékēs, if what you say is true, I am gald I was wrong.

Taken, its nothing. But tell me whats the average salary/income of an individual/family in US and in India?

Purchasing a thing worth 400$ when you earn anything between 2000$ - 6000$ monthly looks pretty easy and can be treated as just-another usual purchase, whereas getting a 25000 bucks piece when you are in India (you know what an avg Indian earns :)) is really more then a dream come true.

we don't need to develop culturally relevant games for indian audiences (the world is a pretty big place) - there are people willing to spend money, we have graphic artists & animators (albeit from the broadcast field), we have programmers (haven't come across any genius coders though), game designers (aka gamers or programmers who realised they are better gamers than coders), and there are beanie counters (read project managers) to man-manage a production house BUT there's very little real-world experience (outsourced donkey-work counts for nada).

basically we need someone from the outside (with solid networking & experience) to come inside and guide/kick-start game development in india (might be happening as i type :))

I really hope so. But consider this one question also, I am not sure of the answer myself. Would the western world (one of the largest market of games) purchase a game developed by an Indian firm. I am talking about their skepticism about Indian software. Would they really consider it as good as their European counterpars (even if its good enough)? Of course I may be wrong and the game might be welcomed provided its good. But I think that whenever a good Indian game comes out to the world, it would take some time to break the ice.

Thing is many indians are working in EA, YES the main factor is funding which is a issue. so indians usually use their skills as a part not as a whole.

and also such a thing is not profitable in india. i mean, u see the animated films in bollywood completely mediocre it is.

and funding is not an issue there.

so this is a complicated scenario and as vinit said we need someone to kickstart and show us how it is done! then indians usually latch on to it.

Bro, the platform on which you are writing, the hardware which you are using, the OS which you are running, all the apps which are opened in the background, for their development they all have demanded Indian fingers to be bashed on keyboards for hours.

then what is wrong when i called IT slaves? and u called me a noob for that when u are typing the exact same thing here.

Here by development I din mean IT services only, it also included Software/Hardware RnD, feasibility studies, etc. Indians who have worked on teams producing tools like Adobe Photoshop, Google search engine were not only involved in testing and post-production support, but also majorly in RnD, feasibility studies, etc. There are scientists and researchers working at places like Google, MS, AMD, etc from India.

First - of all India is not into a recession , it's just a bad economy

second - there is a major chunk of devs doing outsourcing

Second - of course they are because No one paying them Here  . :boxing:
