Recommend a Keyboard...

Hi guys...

Well, as a professional medical transcriptionist, I have to type a lot every day. It's part of my job. Even though I've been promoted to Senior QA, I do sometimes have to type quite extensively. So can you guys recommend me a really good keyboard.

I previously had my eyes on this bad boy....

HP 2004 Standard Keyboard

Don't go on it's looks, it's a REALLY GOOD AND STUDY KEYBOARD, and I really want one, but as it is, they are out of production, and I don't like the latest HP models.

So...tech people...recommend me

PS: Please don't tell me to go to the PC Ask the Experts Thread. Not every heavy duty keyboard user goes there you know :P I would prefer to have recommendations from all the "potential" GI members rather than just a few :D

Thanx a lot :)

Hi guys...

Thanx a lot for replying

I am kinda fond of TVS Gold. There is something different about that keyboard which other lack but i <3 k/b of Macbook Pro but for that u will need other parts of laptop too :P

Well, even I've heard about the TVS Gold keyboard from many of my friends, but my only problem with that keyboard (even though I haven't used it in person) is that the backspace key is too small, and since I type really fast (@100+ wpm), it's really annoying when I miss that backspace key due to it being small :(

lol @ macbook :P

microsoft reculsa with big bad keys

Hmm...that keyboard in fact looks really cool :D I'll check out some reviews :D Thanx :)

The cheap logitech keybs - sturdy and you can bang away at them - and very very cheap

Yeah...in fact I actually have one of those, bought it with the mouse/keyboard combo @625/- back then :P Have really used it up though :P

Edit: Would really love to get my hands on one of these....

there is no rule that says if u type a lot u shud use mechanical keyboads .. .. infact i would never recommend TVS gold to someone who types for long stretches , coz that keyboard is NOT ergonomic at all .. anyways it finally comes down to your typing style .. whether you are touch typist(go for MS curve 4000) or Mr KeyboardBanger(go for TVS) two fingered keyboard pecker (pick any cheapo logitech) .

Dude Kaze try out curve 4000 ..

Don't go for reclusa, its a gaming keyboard

so it has good response times, big buttons, macro functions, night glow so he can type in darkness, why not and i have it.

Wow...thanx a lot for all the replies guys. I really appreciate it :helpsmilie:

I did some digging around based on the replies that everybody gave. TVS Gold is definitely out of the picture coz of the small backspace key. Reclusa is a good keyboard but am thinking of going in the ergonomic way.

Dude...thanx a lot for your reply. You seriously know what you're talking about. It seems you are a typist too. To tell you the truth, I didn't know what a "touch typist" is :P. I googled it and came to know that I actually am a touch typist. Meaning, I don't look at the keyboard to find the keys. My "muscles have memorized" where the buttons actually are. I read quite a lot of reviews too of the comfort curve 4000 and many people (even medical transcriptionists) recommended it.

I've been using regular keyboards for the past almost 7 to 8 years now. I guess this time around, I'll go with the ergonomic one. I have to try out something new as I basically sometimes have to type for 8 hours at a stretch, and I definitely need something different than a regular styled keyboard :wOOtjumpy:

Again, thanx a lot for all the replies guys. Really appreciate the effort

Edit: Oh and here's a really big picture of the MS Comfort Curve 4000. I had a hard time finding a bigger picture than the one shown on the MS website to check out how the keys are. Just didn't want the keys to be like those really small laptop keys as it's really hard for me to achieve my regular speeds on those. Anyways, here's the pic....

:)

Edit II: I know it's a little costly for a keyboard (At ITwares, it's listed as Rs. 2700/-), but I guess am one of those my-life-depends-on-keyboard-typing types :P
