Just played first chapter. Its Doom, just more doom but not super fast crazy jumping around all over Doom. You will not get motion sickness when you play this Doom.

It's the same DOOM we loved. Power fantasy with smooth as a butter gameplay. Sitting back and slaying monster will never grow old.

Why is there not much hype around this game ? More of a same old same old like AC games ? I mean even the last COD has more buzz than this.

You on a dead forum with total of 10 active members for last 2 years. Anyone judging popularity of a game through IVG then he or she seriously clueless lol

 

Goto ICG discord server or Gaf, Reddit or Era and see proper activity. There is already a modding thread on Steam forums, people already started modding of the game. 

 

As far as game is concerned then yes its more Doom. Its highly polished and competent fun shooter but not doing anything unique or innovative. Its good game but no goty or anything. Currently its 85 on Metacritic which is quite good.

 

Since game is on gamepass, more people playing it,  even those who never bought or played previous two games.  Almost majority PC and xbox players playing through Gamepass since game is 70$ compared to Doom Eternal which was 60$.

COD is a yearly juggernaut like FIFA.

It can’t be compared to regular games.

 

Also Doom Eternal is generally being considered as the best in the franchise so far.

So it has already reached it’s peak & this new entry is trying new & different things to stay relevant.

 

I won’t be surprised if it’s the final Doom game for next decade until another Reboot shows up.

I really didn't like Doom Eternal. It was released on gamepass afer release and i uninstalled it after 2 hours of playtime. It wasnt doom imo. It was doom meeting mirrors edge. Way too much jumping, platforming and constantly running around for ammo made game awful experience for me and gave me headache same time. 

 

2016 Doom and Dark Ages better Doom games but i dont think there's much scope left for Doom to expand further. Its time Id makes new Wolfenstien since Machine games working on sequel of Indiana Jones based on some rumours.

Hmmm,  do you know of any good sub Reddit to discuss gaming -preferably Indian context? I know of r/Indiangaming, but they only post about either casual no games or boast about pc builds !

Wolfenstein & Doom both are burnt out for the next decade.

 

Depending Indiana Jones numbers on PS5 & Steam….MG will either continue that or be dead.

Sad to say but yeah that’s the reality.

 

As for id….I think M$ will give them one more chance to rejuvenate with a new IP or else they’ll be the second studio for Halo Reboot along with already in shambles 343i.

I loved Doom eternal but I think this is better and all the changes they made were great! I liked all 3 games. Eternal got lot of hate but I liked it better than 2016 doom. Yes, it needed some strategy and ammo hunting but it was still so much fun. 

 

For me, Dark Ages > Eternal > 2016.

 

But that's not to say that 2016 was bad or average. Loved that too. Overall a consistent series.

Im 100% sure next Wolfenstien game is in development and Id software making it. My prediction. 

 

Id are the original creators of Doom and Wolfenstien series. So it makes sense they will make future games while Machine games work on Indy or something else. Machine games is amongst best studios of Bethesda and well funded as well. It will get big projects in future. 

 

I could be wrong but my prediction is Machine games will not make next Wolfenstien game.

Jumping and platforming ruined Eternal for me.  Doom guy doing parkour lol.

2016 was also jumping and running around shooting. In fact run and gun was also theme of 2016 until they extended it and officially called eternal run and gun. 

 

Only thing I didn't like was water sections.

like shadows i think, same old formula and not much innovation. Plays safe so maybe thats why not much hype or interest.

Finished! Loved the game from start to end. Best Doom game, but I say this whenever I play any new Doom game lol. 

 

All changes were good and I hope they retain them in future games as well. 

 

Shield is great! It blocks and parry attacks, and can be thrown to the enemies which never gets old! 

 

Cutscenes are welcome new addition, I liked to see what's going in a cinematic way rather than just playing mindlessly, of course it's not really something to talk about and they are average at best but I liked how it connects the gameplay. 

 

New weapons are awesome! They are now even more balanced than ever. ALL the weapons are good. From shotgun to rocket launcher. Chainshot and Super shotgun were my favourite (I think). It's amazing how after all these years, the feedback of super shotgun is soo satisfying! 

 

Melee is fine, it's a good addition but nothing much to talk about. 

 

Annoying flying demons are gone! I am glad. 

 

You also don't have to keep changing guns in order to weaken/kill different demons. You can use any gun againt any enemies and they are all effective. Of course, some are slightly more effective but it gives you the freedom to choose. And this freedom feels refreshing! 

 

Another major change is that enemies are not always in a battleground. Rather they are everywhere and you can mostly opt out of baatlefield as well, some places it locks you out, and in some it gives you the choice to engage whenever you want. 

 

Secrets and rewards are also better. Provide in game benefits rather than materialistic things. 

 

Dragon and Mech levels are good and effective but there are only 2-3 levels with them. I don't mind them, they play fine and provide nice difference in gameplay. 

 

What I missed is, glory kill animations, it's still there but rarely happens, perhaps there is a trick to it but it's not as much brutal or satisfying than previous entries. And perhaps music could be better. And maybe, just maybe better level/visuals. 

 

Graphics are meh. I played on Ultra Nightmare most of the time and it looked nothing ground breaking, looks early current/prevous gen. But thankfully, I don't mind it much. It was fine for me. 

 

Overall, an Amazing entry to the Doom series. It's the Doom we love!!!

This game made me miss Doom 2016. No gory kills and uninspiring weapons are a buzzkill. The super shotgun is very op and sufficient to get through entire game. Chain ball gun is also pretty good. The flying and mech missions are lame and should never be part of Doom game. Luckily not many of them.

Very enjoyable game though not as good as Doom 2016 and Eternal. Will install Doom 2016 after I complete this.
