Hey everyone!

I’ve been following the 2024 World Chess Olympiad closely, and today was a monumental moment for India. We won two gold medals in both the open and women’s categories—an achievement that’s nothing short of historic! 🥇🥇

I realized that while this community is cantered around gaming, we don’t have much of a focus on chess, despite it being such a strategic and timeless game. So I thought it’s time to start a thread dedicated to chess—a game that’s as mentally engaging as any video game out there.

This thread is for discussing everything chess-related—from professional tournaments, to chess strategies, favourite players, memorable matches, and even online platforms where you can play. Whether you're a casual player or a seasoned chess enthusiast, let's dive into the world of 64 squares together!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, especially on India’s amazing win today! 🥇 Let’s get the conversation going!

History has been written today!!! We won two gold in world chess Olympiad, its the first time we won gold in any category, and i think india is the second country to win gold in both the category at the same time after china. Im not exaggerating but Vishwanath's era was like similar to sachin, when there was always a one man standing against all but now Indian chess scene has blasted and we have more than one player who is world beater. The golden time is yet to come, when player like gukesh and arjun will take over the world championship. Gukesh will be challenging Ding Liren in 2024 around 20nov - 15Dec for world championship. It will be exciting

Samay really helped the chess to grow among young generation, and what to say about Mr Anand mahindra, organising worlds first and largest official franchise chess league will definitely makes India, in the world of chess what it should be, a leader.  We f invented this game

At what point you felt that he was losing today?

When Gukesh's rooks seemed to be stuck at e8 and f8, and were not very useful, and Ding offered his queen. I thought Gukesh would accept the queen, But not so surprisingly, he didn't. That was the only time I got to watch the match; I hadn't watched much before and after this point, and I thought he would lose this one.
