Might as well get the propah game on the X360/PS3/PC. At least its not gimped on those platforms.

the thing is these two games are different from each other and should be treated as such,it doesn't even share the same store(this one is a prequel fyi).Of course if you want the original dead space experience, you should check out the HD versions but that doesn't mean it makes this any less of a game.Who knows some might prefer this over the original.

I think it's good that some game publishers are pushing the limits on what Wii can do graphically.

Let's face it, the system has a huge install base, and that offers publishers a change to make a lot of money from high volume sales.

As for the Rails thing, it's hard to independently control your character's motion and your gun aim at the same time. All the reviews of Time Crisis 4 showed this, in complaining about its FPS mode.

The only thing that might make it easier, is if the Wii Balance Board could be used to control your movement, so that Wiimote can purely deal with your aim.

I'm looking forward to this. Doesn't have to out-Dead-Space Dead Space, is what people need to understand.

Honestly, though. Let's not pull the pre-judgement shtick on, of all things, a Wii game (not yet, at least). It's just cliched and tiresome. I also remember from your initial impressions playing Dead Space on X360 the constant comparisons you gave to Doom 3. Jesus, if everything we gave was a god-damn counterpart for us to form a basis out of, every video review/preview/impressions piece out there would sound like customer support email macros. I've given my benefit of the doubt to much worse looking games than this, and I still have all my organs attached. No joke.

And hey there mister! I've been eating my fruits like a good ho :first:

There really isnt much pre-judgement one can pass on a Wii game considering how bad a majority of them usually turn out to be. Even the Dead Rising port is awful not to mention Far Cry. I played DR for a bit and felt that the reviews were too kind. When it comes to Wii games, the standard is pretty much "Prove that you are worth anyone's time" rather than "I hope its not a disappointment".

And wolfing down durian doesnt do you any favours.

That's just voodoo logic, girlfriend.

Developing Wii games shouldn't require some sort of imaginary prerequisite for anything to be perceived as "good" just because the majority of you, I or anyone perceives most Wii software as "bad". Those examples you gave of Dead Rising and Far Cry have one thing inherently common thing about them: they had terrible impressions following their previews and negative press coverage, that too not just nicks against the graphics. And you know what would you require for someone in order to come to previews? Actually PLAYING them. Something no one has yet to give a full report on with Dead Space Extraction. That's why I brought up the pre-judgement remark.

Now think of this. The problem, I feel, with most next-gen games on the PS3 and Xbox 360 is that almost anything backed by a major publisher can look really good, if not outright outstanding. Which is why its easier to hype these kind of games in the beginning of their marketing life-span, am I right? But you, like any frequent gamer, can attest that all them riches don't always equal to gold. I find Resistance Retribution one of the best looking shooters on the PSP, but ultimately, the single-player can be mind-numbingly frustrating at times thanks to the control scheme. I wouldn't have known this through watching videos, or even while playing through the demo. I had to play the game from start to finish in order for this limitation to truly dawn upon me. I'm not saying that we should carry a wooden stake whenever a game that visually attracts us to it and that it should be put through their paces before it comes within playing perspective, but I don't see why this should be the case with Wii games. Some of the best-selling Wii games in the market don't even look as good as stuff like Super Smash Brawl or Mario Galaxy.

Also, I lied. I've been drinking mango juice all this bloody time. :giggle::( :(

I agree about beauty != enjoyment. I got thoroughly bored with Resistance 2 on the PS3 to the extent that I havent bothered to complete the game.

My ribbing of Extraction is down to the fact that its a rail shooting port (or remake) of a brilliant third person free moving shooter. To me that seems like a gimped cop out just to make money off the novelty factor of a gory, horror themed game for the supposedly family friendly Wii. Granted, other gorefests like RE4 and Mad World are terrific games, but one was a direct port of an extremely good TPS while the other was specifically developed ground up for the Wii. My concern stems from other obvious franchise milking products like RE:Umbrella Chronicles (I think thats the name of the RE themed rail shooter) which outright sucked. You can actually draw a parallel between that and the current case in point. Besides, the fact that the publisher in question here is the franchise ruining behemoth named EA, adds to the discomfort.

just wanted to put it in there for the ROFLOMG!!!!!! factor

btw extraction is not a remake,it's a prequel.

and also in a way a spin off cos it's in a different genre, same as umbrella chronicles not being considered a main game.
