PS3 Arcade fighting Stick

Guys! You all know that, in fighting games like Street Fighter 4, Tekken 5 DR, Soul Calibur 4, Virtua Fighter 5 etc...it's very difficult to pull some complex combos with our usual SIXAXIS/DS3. These combos can be easily pulled with an arcade fighting stick....And this is a major differentiating factor in winning online matches.

My question is do any of you guys own any PS3 arcade stick? If so which stick? where did you bought it from? AT what price?

I'm so desperate to get a arcade stick for my PS3, but unable to find one in India.

Any suggestions???

BTW........Is this the correct place for my Questions???

Sorry.....I'm new to the forum!!!

If you are ready to wait for some time, order this from Play Asia. They can ship it for free since it weighs less than 2 kilos -

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-1o24.html

However, this is a very basic thing, good for playing at home.

if you have extra cash to burn, go for this. Its made for the pros  -

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl-49-en-70-1rrr.html

But its very costly and shipping will be a bitch.

Am also hunting for a place in India to buy this, but no luck so far.

Thats Mad Catz fighting stick tournament edition released for both 360 and PS3 (costs 150 greenbacks). Its not available anywhere as all the pre-orders "worldwide" are already booked. Expect a "possible" second batch somewhere around April etc. and keep checking PlayAsia. That is our only hope, as far as I know.

Hi! Tnx for the info bro....Actually, I'm eyeing on the Hori Real Arcade Pro Stick 3........But as u rightly said, its expensive.......also there's no stock even with Play-Asia...It's available only with Amazon.com @ $ 140, but they don't ship to India (even if they ship, they'll charge my monthly salary just for shipping  )

How about the basic Hori stick??? Is it durable? Any idea??

Thx a ton!!

BTW....I didn't encountered even a single person who is having an arcade stick :eyepop:

Is it really that difficult or nobody is interested in spending thousands for a fighting stick???

Just curious :egyptian:

@ Rak-Z

That basic stick (Hori Fighting Stick 3) is said to be good enough for amateurs in terms of playing, but cant really comment on the durability. Basically get the exposure and once you realise that you like using a stick (no pun intended), go for a professional one, like the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3, or the Mad Catz Tournament Edition, i.e. if you can find one. You can read more about it on IGN.

Regarding buying it from Play Asia, its in stock again. If you order from PA, there is high probability that it will land into customs' evil hands, but it might slip out cause of low value. So, gotta take your chances there buddy :)

I guess we never had that arcade culture, so never got around using these. In fact, even I dont own one right now. Am scrambling for one, though

I too heard about SF Fightpads and heard good. Missed them at PA by hours. Wanted the one with Ken

Hey.....Now I see many people are looking for a good arcade stick. Also, prices have come down and SF4 fever has cooled down. So, this is the best time to buy an arcade stick for the following reasons.

1. Sticks are now in stock at all major US retailers and available for normal prices

2. More fighting games coming like KOF 12, Blazeblue, Tekken 6 etc.,

3. A vendor from GI (Praashant) is ready to get us sticks for decent prices

So, for those who are looking to buy a stcik, post ur requirements in the thread below

http://www.IndianVideoGamer.com/forums/index....mp;#entry427896

I ordered a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 from him.

Cheers

i ordered hori real arcade pro 3 from a shop in chennai ...getting it on monday :console: ..decent price 6k ....Also i got my Sanwa buttons( same ones used in sf4 arcade machine) from ebay gonna mod it as soon as i get it :P

Also to note if u buy any stick u can always mod it with sanwa parts which will always be the best joystick/buttons used in any arcade stick.

hori real arcade pro 3 uses sanwa Joystick

SF4 Tournament Edition uses Sanwa Joystick and Buttons

Most other Sticks will only use their own company parts unless Specified

@OP - Yes using a stick configuration with the buttons offered in the config of a Hori Stick will improve your online play for the following reasons.

1. D-Pads just don't offer enough speed of movement between combinations and for lack of a better word to describe the use of arcs they just s#ck. I remember spending way too much time on my SNES and finally ending up with a sore thumb because thats the only way to throw a Hadouken.

2. if uve ever played SF at an arcade u will know the difference between throwing a light punch vs a hard one can actually help in inflicting more damage and moving through combinations leaves close encounters a far easier challenge than with most peripherals (minus the sticks) today.

I will never doubt the ability of someone out there to master a fighting game with a PS3/Xbox or even Wii controller but at the end of the day having a sequential placement of buttons is the way to go and if you watch any pro tournament and keep a close eye on their fingers as they move across the buttons you'll soon realize why having the buttons arranged the way they are (wow back when i was in school) is the ideal way to play most fighting games. Now, if they only made sticks with a stand so you could stand and play the games that would bring back arcade madness.

Like this PRO :P

Many basic combos can be performed fluently only with arcade stick or at very best keyboard because of the button arrangement.
