Peer rating is something like Karma or Reputation system. Again, it can be abused. Often members resort to you-rep-me-I-rep-you routine.

The good thing about this place is, it's very well moderated. Hence, even if seniority is tied down to number of posts, mods can take care that spamming doesn't take place to get to higher rank. One way of doing it is disabling post count in sections where spamming is more common, like the General Chatter section.

^^ i think that so many threads are being started in the trading post that even new threads move to the 2nd page in a couple of days...so i think two days for a bump is fair

Oh ok cool :) only that i thought let new deals occupy the first 2-3 pages

Woah !! This thread is a flurry of activity.

Nice to see that you all are taking a lot of interest in improving the site.

My "do paise" :

1] Custom titles are a good idea. But we should fix the title once for the senior members and thereafter requests for changes will be entertained only after a minimum period of 6 months.

2] two days between bumps for threads in the trading zone is fair, as it is the second most active section on the forum

Ebay and gang must be so jealous

3] A minimum post count barrier for the trading zone is necessary. @Sam: I dont know if we can prevent posts in the trading zone on a member by member basis till the limit is breached.

i had actually suggested that we make it so general chatter posts dont add to a member's post count

This.

So Posts in TP be counted seprately frm now on??

I think making it minimum 50 posts over all...be eligibility for Dealing in TP section.

no it just means that only members who have minimum 30 post count can post in the trading section

what i was suggesting is that since people post so much spam and nonsense in the Gen Chatter section, we should make it so whatever you post in Gen Chatter will not add to your post count..atleast that will discourage them from posting there ust to get their post count up

+1

then this

"" 0-99 - Junior Member

Changed the user ranks to the following

0-99 - Junior Member

100-249 - Regular Member

250-999 - Active Member

1000-4999 - Senior Member

5000+ - GI Hall of Fame Member

these are just placeholders till we can come with something more creative
