It was taking us to Godaddy.com where it was written that one can buy it.

Obviously we are talking about only the domain name & not this pro board archive.

No one bought it or someone renewed it….hence we are being redirected back to these boards.

Obviously just the domain name is not worth a penny without the Proboards forum archive.

This whole thing happened many moons ago when the original founder Vineetwins & Sam didn’t want to partner up anymore.

GamingIndians domain got lost but the forums were kept intact with a new name which was IndianVideoGamer.

Even if it takes to Godaddy, you cannot buy it. It is just a placeholder, at that stage one would have to broker a deal with Sam, the extension for sub. is still valid.
It would have notified and the owner and hence the renewal.

This is not uncommon, even Twitter or Sony had their domain expire multiple times.

Nice to see your offer but how exactly can you turn this site around?

Yeah we aren’t even experts in this.

Plus most of the ppl active now are nearing their 40’s.

Hard to take any initiative at this stage of life.

People will have to make this their pet project.

Idea is to keep it alive and running as long as possible. Decrease downtime. Maybe serve ads and start Patron like TE.

TE is likely as old as IVG/GI, has been running quite flawlessly over the years. They have adapted with times and it is quite active with members, good discussion etc.

There's another Indian forum called Valuepickr (focuses on stocks) which has been around for over a decade, very active forum, active members, tons of posts every minute/hour, also serves lots of images etc. Lean, light, works well.

It's not rocket science - few other forums are doing it already without going down.

Yeah. Even though India is not a competitive market in the world stage, more Indians are gaming or have the resources to play games.

How to get them to use this site is a challenge.

Diagree. In your 40s, if you are passionate and have intention of pursuing that passion, one can afford to spend on a loss making site like IVG just to keep nostalgia alive. Hard to fund loss making passion projects in 20s and 30s (unless backed by VC or other persons' money).

I do not have Sam's contact and even then I do not think he will reply unless someone knows him personally. Maybe some another mod can look into it.

Well, as I have noticed, platforms like this one have already started to die out a long time ago. They rely on old members. Sometimes new ones come, like me. But the general number of people has switched to social networks. That's where live communication is now.
