KnackChap
Game Informer SCORE 8.75/10 CONCEPT: A cinematic tale of courage and vengeance, plus lots of fighting GRAPHICS: If you can tear your eyes away from the swirling blades and dazzling CG, you’ll see some pretty environments, too SOUND: The voice acting brings the characters to life, and a wonderful score fuels the story and the action PLAYABILITY: ulling off combos and switching among the styles works well, but the lack of an active block is a pain. Also, some of the button-press minigames seem designed for you to fail the first time ENTERTAINMENT: Combat is fluid, and the story takes some unexpected twists. Be aware that the fun won’t last forever, though REPLAY: Moderate It may not realize its full potential, but the combat in Heavenly Sword is frenzied and entertaining – more than enough to justify giving the game a try. The amazing cutscenes (with some of the best facial animations I’ve ever seen), a cool cast of characters, and the stirring musical score complement the gameplay to create an incredibly cinematic experience. It may invite comparisons to other action titles, but I can safely say that Heavenly Sword is a unique and captivating adventure with a style all its own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GI second opinion 9/10 Film critic Roger Ebert may speak poorly of video games at the moment, but if Heavenly Sword’s seamless blending of silver screen caliber acting with razor-sharp gameplay points toward where this entertainment medium is heading in the future, he may soon give them two thumbs up. The performances that Andy Serkis and his fellow actors deliver are just as impressive as the never-slowing action that unfolds on the battlefield. As you swing the Heavenly Sword, your combat swagger transitions from acrobatic finesse to unabashed brutality – a chemistry that is so satisfying that you’ll wish that there were more enemies to slaughter in each level. When your steel isn’t singing, you are treated to long-range weapon play that, by slowing down time and allowing players to manipulate the trajectory of a shot mid-air, gives wonderful new meaning to a headshot. I know many of you won’t agree with this next point, but part of this game’s charm is how short and compact it is. It throws you right into the fire, doesn’t bog down the quest with random events, and just keeps rolling with the intensity high. Many believe that games will deliver the same cinematic punch as movies. Heavenly Sword shows us just how close this union is.
KnackChap
Games Radar review Ultimately, this is Heavenly Sword’s Achilles heel It’s just too damn short.. Add to this the lack of online content, and as there’s only a handful of production diaries, a Making Of and a double-dose of anime cartoons, people will end up feeling a little deflated by the extras. Still, quality over quantity is the vibe here and there’s no doubt in our mind that Heavenly Sword is a winner and a work of art (eat that Roger Ebert!) that will help shift tons of PS3s come September. When it’s good, it’s truly magnificent and some of the final stages will have anyone with a 42-inch high-definition TV foaming at the mouth. No battle-scene compares to Nariko’s finale. Plus, Nariko’s home of the new face of PlayStation, going so far as to shunt Lara Croft from her throne as the ultimate game girl. Bring on Heavenly Sword 2. you'll love * Combat system is graceful & awesome * Artwork and design is stunning * Andy Serkis is the man you'll hate * Too damn short * Too much time spent on Kai * No online content? 8/10 http://www.gamesradar.com/us/ps3/game/revi...828101850555069
KnackChap
1up review For those looking for the next big triple-A action game, Heavenly Sword is close, but not quite there. To its credit, there's a scene near the end of the game where you essentially go bowling through crowds of enemies -- it makes you realize just how epic games like this are going to be a few years down the road. But for now, Heavenly Sword does one better than hint at the future. It's an example of developers doing a good job being inspired by good taste, rather than looking up the recipe and coming up with something that's a bit different, but not quite as good as the original. Heavenly Sword is on the positive side of that line: solid in its own right and definitely worth playing. 8/10 CCC review 4.7 Graphics Heavenly Sword feels like a movie hit, thanks to the beautiful scenarios with in-depth detail and the stunning cutscenes. 3.4 Control The combat moves can be repetitive. The aftertouch controls are a bit of an afterthought; there's lack of accuracy and you'll often feel betrayed by it. 4.8 Music / Sound FX / Voice Acting The soundtrack is epic, worthy of the latest blockbuster film. It varies throughout the levels and never feels overused. The voice acting is one of the best I've heard in a video game. The characters show deeper personalities due to their peculiar voices and their attitude. 4.5 Play Value If you love action-adventure games like God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, etc. you will love this one as well. The story is very engaging, and the gameplay takes some skill, which is good. The only downside is the game is short.
KnackChap
Gameplay: 8.5 There is a minor learning curve when it comes to the game’s controls, but players are generally given clues about where to go and what to do next. The game does have prompts for finishing moves and you are tasked, at times, with matching the hot key to the on-screen prompt to be successful. The game is also rather short – estimated at 10-12 hours but you can get through it faster. Graphics: 9.3 The camera angle can be a little troublesome at the wrong moments, but the animations are awesome and the environments are wonderful. Sound: 9.6 The voice acting is tremendous. Some characters – like Roach, Whiptail and Flying Fox – are a little over the top, but it still works. The musical score is first rate. Difficulty: Medium You should be able to work through this game quickly and then unlock hell mode for a repeat visit. Concept: 8.3 The plot has its share of twists and surprises, but the story arc feels a little too close – in terms of general flavor – to God of War. Overall: 8.8 Nariko, Kai and company are the most compelling characters to ever grace a video game (and yes, that is opinion). The voice acting is dead-on and the graphics are gorgeous. In the end, though, the short gameplay and similarities to God of War lower the overall score. Should this be played by PS3 owners? Absolutely. http://ps3.gamezone.com/gzreviews/r28095.htm

CarbonCore
Resistance wasn't a very good game. It was just about average. Online multiplayer was good though. LOL really?? Thats the first one. Can't imagine which stage you didn't like. May be those tunnel clearing missions with Leapers jumping all around you, I hated them too. But overall it was a lot like first Halo and one of the best shooters I personally played since first Halo.
MarketTantrik
LOL really?? Thats the first one. Can't imagine which stage you didn't like. May be those tunnel clearing missions with Leapers jumping all around you, I hated them too. But overall it was a lot like first Halo and one of the best shooters I personally played since first Halo. I didnt play too much of the single player missions. I felt that it was too derivative in nature, picking gameplay design elements from other games and the WWII setting was just awful. But I wish we had such massive multiplayer matches on Live. Some of the online games I played were really fun.
CarbonCore
It was a bit slow in the begging, but you should've played it till the end. The final 4/5 hours were just madness and so much similar to Halo except for the Warthog escape. And I'm sorry to say, but you need dedicated servers to handle 20vs20 CTF and DTM, Live's P2P simply can't handle it. I remember last year we used to have GoW fragfests and even on 4vs4, we lagged like hell. Only the host had the liberty to pull off sniper headshots.
