Guys, I have a query: Does it matter what "Region" your ID belongs to? I mean, I registered my ID over the US Region. Now, if I want to play UC:2 or UC:3 or BF3 online, does the region selection matter when you're not playing with friends? Is there any reason to make ID's for separate regions aside for the DLC's?

Also, if I add friends, do their regions matter? Or not?

Would appreciate your response(s)!

Whatever region your PSN ID is .. you can play with all the players on PSN.

The only reason most of us have multiple region psn id's is because PSN India wasn't available till recently. Also PSN Game sharing used to be in full swing till some time back :P

One more reason to have multiple region psn ID's is to get the DLC's accordingly. For eg : If you want to buy the COD DLC map packs .. you need to buy them from the correct PSN store depending on which region your disc is.

Well, the DLC thing makes sense.

Few more Q's: If I download the DLC's, are they only playable on the region I downloaded them from? Sighting your COD Map Pack example - it's only downloadable from the same region PSN as the disk itself, but does that also affect the playability?

Finally, from a ping perspective for multiplayer FPS' - does it make much of a difference if I play on UK/US or India? Where do most of the IVG'ians loiter at? India? UK?

You forgot about PS Home.

And pings are dependent on ur ISP and the host server not PS ID. So it wont make a difference.

Agreed, but If I were to connect to a random game server on the US PSN - I'd prolly connect to a US host. If I were to try the same thing on the Indian PSN - I'd prolly connect to an Indian host, thus making my pings better considering the server is closer to home. Right?

Most of the online games, allow users to select the game region they are from and connect to the server closest to the region. Eg: Killzone. But all the games dont have such option. I think they scan for the server and connects to the closest one.
