Jigsaw
I put an avi from my computer onto the ps3.... and it looked simply awesome on the ps3. Tried the same with few other movies in avi format and they all look wayy better on the ps3. What exactly does the ps3 do?? upscale?? I have a retarded amd3200 pc with no graphics card... is that why?? Secondly this is noobish, but how do u guys transfer media from your computer to the ps3? I do it in a clunky way... first put the stuff on an ipod and then connect the ipod to the ps3 and copy over.

supersim
download TVERSITY or PS3 media server . the latter is the best. then you can stream vids, pics, music directly to your ps3.
Jigsaw
yeah i've got it hooked up through hdmi. I would've expected dvds to look good... but movies in avi format (600-700mb) looks supremely better too... i'm not complaining

Death Stryke
^ I dont know myself. Btw even I havent tried this streaming thing yet. I my external hooked onto my ps3, when I am on my movie marathons. After i got my ps3, I havent watched divx movies on my computer ever. Though i did when I needed em for movies where I needed subtitles .. Speaking of which, does anyone know how to get your .srt files to work on a ps3

HundredProofSam
i use tversity.....its awesome....i used to copy on external drives too, but now that just feels like a waste of time....i watch all my movies on the PS3 now, thanks to streaming through tversity peace
ghb
i dont think the ps3 upscales divx/xvid files...only dvds so maybe your computer's screwy graphics card is the problem (or maybe its the software u use to run the video files) personally, avi files look a lot better on my tv when i run them from my comp (using vlc, fyi) connected through vga cables...on the ps3, the movies look all blocky...the upscaled dvds look fantastic tho on the ps3...again, nowhere close to blu ray standards the blocky graphics are quite evident on a 42 inch lcd, maybe not so on the smaller screens

So if m watching a movie through streaming, my laptop will be busy streaming data to the ps3 and its bandwidth will be occupied with that? Or can i leave my laptop for background downloads? Jigsaw
I've heard tversity takes a lot of resources on the computer to stream (atleast that's what I had read a year ago for the 360). I guess I'll rather copy movies over to the ps3 n then watch them in all glory. ghb, yeah maybe the lack of a graphics card could be the culprit on the pc. Death Stryke
^Yeah, exactly I want to know if thats the case. Coz I'd rather leave my laptop to do other tasks than stream it for me and not be able to do anything else
HundredProofSam
brotha try PS3 media server. Its much better than Tversity. how? all i have to do is run tvsersity and i can watch movies on the PS3....there's nothing to it...how is this other application better? Noobish questions, this requires an ad hoc wifi connection of some sort between the PC and ps3 ? So if m watching a movie through streaming, my laptop will be busy streaming data to the ps3 and its bandwidth will be occupied with that? Or can i leave my laptop for background downloads? you can connect via lan or wireless....your internet connection only uses a small fraction of the data capacity of a lan cable or your wireless router, so it wont affect ur downloads I've heard tversity takes a lot of resources on the computer to stream (atleast that's what I had read a year ago for the 360). I guess I'll rather copy movies over to the ps3 n then watch them in all glory. ghb, yeah maybe the lack of a graphics card could be the culprit on the pc. thats what i used to think as well....i currently stream to my PS3 from two PCs....one is a quad core with an 8800GT and the other is an AMD sempron 2600+ with no graphics card...both stream flawlessly peace
