Emo-Iwata
Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles Genre: Gun Shooting Platform: Wii Publisher: Capcom Developer: Cavia Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced its plans for a big comeback of its multi-million-selling franchise, Resident Evil® to the Wii™ video game system this year. Resident Evil®: The Darkside Chronicles, the sequel to the highly successful Wii title Resident Evil®: The Umbrella Chronicles, is in development exclusively for the Wii and is set to hit North American retailers this winter. “We are very excited to be bringing the sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles to the Wii as it’s the perfect fit for the platform,” said Mona Hamilton, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “We are always looking for new ways to give Capcom fans a chance to experience our games. Umbrella Chronicles was a huge success for us, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles includes a more in-depth co-op experience, and we are excited to bring this exclusive content to the Wii audience.” Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles‘s story is based on Resident Evil 2 and includes the popular characters, Leon S Kenney and Claire Redfield. Its on-rails style gameplay and active camera will create a more immersive “Chronicles” survival experience. As in the last installment, this is a first-person game with extreme shooting gameplay and interactive pathways. Filling in many of the missing pieces of storyline that were not covered in the original “Umbrella Chronicles”, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will give hardcore fans the chance to re-live some of the most classic moments of the Resident Evil franchise, while allowing new players to take advantage of the intense action-horror experience only possible on the Wii. Gamers can choose to take on their enemies with the help of an A.I.-controlled character or enlist the help of a friend to fight via two-player co-op. Adding new dimension and strategy to the arcade-style gameplay in the “Chronicles” experience, the new Evade system will utilize the Wii Remote for a more intense experience when fighting enemies. from Famitsu's feature on the game: - When played in actual co-op, the partner is not visible on screen. - Heavily hinted that it will cover RE2, 4 and CV at least. It will definitely cover more than RE2. The game is centered on Leon and Claire. - There will be at least as much content as UC had, no less. - The game will use the licensed Havok physics engine, and also feature improved graphics and lighting compared to UC. - They are currently tweaking a difficulty balance system that is identical to RE4 and 5, that adjusts the difficulty based on how well the player is doing. from the credits in the trailer: - Just Cause is probably working on the cutscenes. The same guys worked on RE5. - Shotaro Suga is the scenario writer. He wrote Degeneration. He also writes mostly for anime shows, including Darker than Black and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

Fahads_neo
This is probably one game which would force me to buy Nintendo Wii. Any news regarding its DS version?
Keyofx
This is probably one game which would force me to buy Nintendo Wii. Any news regarding its DS version? Ditto. This must be the only series exclusive to the Wii that I actually want to spend money on. But I won't, since some of that money goes back to Nintendo and into developing their next set of mini-games And a DS version wouldn't really do the on-rails mechanic justice. You'd lose too much detail in the environments for one.

But still i want Nintendo guys to develop games like RE for their small contender. The reason is most of the gamers, like me, don't get enough time to play games on consoles or PCs. Therefore, i prefer pocket consoles, such as PSP or DS. Even the technology is becoming better and better, PSP for an example. The machine is capable of delivering mind blowing graphics that matches with PS2's. I hope in future, Nintendo would develop a successor to DS that provide us graphics same as a wii game or atleast GameCube's.
Ne0
^^ nintendo would develop a successor to ds, only when ppl stop buying DS
Keyofx
Good point. The only thing that will get Nintendo to upgrade their hardware is if people stop buying the Wii and DS. Which they won't, idiots that they are
KeezNah
People can't be idiots for still buying into the DS when it still has plenty of great games coming out. Blame the pubs and devs for that one, sock puppet.
Keyofx
Well, the reason those pubs and devs churn out so much godawful software is because of the existing (and always growing) hardware install base! One feeds the other! Fewer companies would chance it if there were half the number of DSs and Wiis in homes than there really are. And yes, the DS has some wonderful games, but that doesn't change the fact that Nintendo are going to milk it for all it's worth.
KeezNah
I don't see how my previous post dictated the need for mentioning how there's still a heap of shovelware on both platforms, so I'm not touching that one. My point was/is: no one (ie. the consumer) should feel stupid in buying one, two, three, however many DSes. The amount of games certainly substantiates their investment and Nintendo has every right to keep this gravy train floating as long as they can. Why don't you tell me how stupid people are for buying the PS2 while you're at it?
Keyofx
Are you bonkers? You said blame the pubs and devs. I gave you a reason why you need to blame the hardware manufacturer and the public as well. And the PS2 was cutting edge when it came out (unlike the Wii). It also has the best good-to-bad game ratio of any generation ever. Oh, and as a business, Nintendo has every right to make their share of money. But I'm not talking from a purely business point of view.
KeezNah
Explain to me the necessity to blame the public. Clearly they're being satisfied, Nintendo is being satisfied, and no matter how many good to bad games you'd want to factor in a ratio - there are still plenty of great games to look forward to. The effort taken into making better and more interesting games for the platform hasn't suddenly collapsed, has it?
