Resident Evil The Darkside Chronicles

Again, nothing against the DS. I love mine to bits!

As for the Wii. PLENTY of games to look forward to? Don't you think that's stretching it a bit? Most high profile third party titles (Conduit, most recently) are mediocre at best, and they don't sell even if they are any good (I'm not counting EA Sports Active as a third party title of any real merit). Casuals (who make up a large majority of Wii owners) don't bother with anything other than Nintendo first party titles, and that's if they can sustain interest beyond Wii Sports. And the hardcore crowd has all but given up on the Wii. It's pretty common knowledge (to anyone with any interest in gaming) that Wii versions of major releases are mostly crap.

Well, I suppose it isn't *all* the public's fault. They're willing to experiment with a new form of entertainment, which is a GOOD thing. However, Nintendo are shooting themselves in the foot by giving them nothing but shallow casual fodder to chew on, and thereby making it impossible for serious games to survive on the platform.

Also, seriously OT.

That wasn't what I gathered from this post, but okay. My bad on the misinterpretation.

Not at all. Do you want me to list names? I can list games. Or are you just gonna pull names like Assassin's Creed or Modern Warfare out for the sake of comparison and call it a day?

Most high profile third party titles (Conduit, most recently) are mediocre at best, and they don't sell even if they are any good (I'm not counting EA Sports Active as a third party title of any real merit).

What about games like Guitar Hero, Call of Duty: World at War, the LEGO series, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour? They've sold quite well on the platform. They may lack the appeal of games like House of the Dead: Overkill, MadWorld, Rune Factory Frontier, or what have you. But they're not terrible either. Fact is, third-party does sell on the Wii. Whether or not you want to attribute to this fact by adorning the "shallow party games" analogy you so commonly like to associate the Wii's success with, the numbers prove its a viable platform to develop games for. It's what kind of games that ultimately matter, and those games which are doing well (Wii Sports, Wii Fit) are not bad games to base this on. EA has it certainly figured out.

Wii versions of games like Overloard, Ghostbusters, Grand Slam Tennis, Virtua Tennis, Pro Evolution Soccer and Tiger Woods PGA Tour hold up quite well to their more higher-definition cousins, and in some cases, far better exceed a lot of those games in their respective components.

I fall under the hardcore gamer demographic and I still support the Wii. I *must* know something you don't, right?

There's always the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 (or better yet, the DS!)

Wii Sports Resort is a lot of fun btw, I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

There's absolutely no point in blaming the public. One thing you should understand, this not only about good or bad games. This about the cost of gaming also. In most of the third world countries, such as India, the demand for low priced consoles is huge. For instance, PS2 isn't lost its Shine in the Indian subcontinent. The thing may be obsolete in the US or the UK, but it is a huge hit in India currently.

As far as the current generation of Nintendo consoles is concerned, including DS and Wii, there is still a large number of good titles coming up.

And for the record, the "hardcore" crowd for a Nintendo platform isn't the same on any other platform. The reason you buy a Nintendo console is because you want to buy Nintendo games. And those exist on the Wii too! Any gamer who hasn't figured this out since the last generation needs to soak their head in a bucket of cold water.
