Finished the game. The ending was absolutely amazing (even if it felt a little incomplete). And there are moments like the sublime ending littered throughout the game but the problem is they are buried neck deep within yet another level of night time jungle trekking. I swear, if I put up screenshots from each of the 6 chapters you would never be able to tell which screenshot is from which chapter. And thats just horrible level design 101.

Its like they had a concept for a REALLY great level. And then suddenly the creative team left the company so they copied/pasted that one really good idea to make a whole game. How did this end up taking them 4 years?

A really great game thats ran out of ideas about 2 hours in. Solid writing, characters and visuals cant change that. 7/10.

If you want to see the actual game the way it was meant to be see the early trailers. This game seems to have been put together in one year, and most of the jungle trek is actually filler. Cut out most of those parts and it's a superb tight 3 hour game.

I agree with Afty. Too much of night-time jungle trekking really holds the game back. I had complained about this earlier as well. And because of that some of the short daytime sections feel like a welcome break. I somehow didn't want those levels to end.

The game does score pretty high on the story/presentation and the combat mechanics though... it's easily the best combat system in a horror-themed game since Dead Space.

Finished The Signal, was about 40 mins long.

It's almost the same stuff, very little novelty...run from point A to B, flash few lumberjacks, rinse repeat the same stuff you have done so many times already. In between all that, counter some awesome writings and dialogues, OK that is something amazing about AW, and we all know that.

Story wise, its becoming more and more abstract....not like earlier ending was much easier to comprehend but it ended at the point where everyone would have some thinking to do and draw their own conclusions which was a good thing. Sometimes, few questions are better left unanswered...adding new episodes may not be a good idea I think.

Puzzles me why should one bother playing this any more. I guess it's the signal to stop playing AW.

Edit: It got some 'cheevs worth 250GS. :P

I was already sick of the whole routine. I dont think I can even bring myself to play through the DLC, figure I will just watch the cut-scenes on youtube cause if I have to do anymore jungle trekking I swear I will kill my..... Wait, WHAT?

I know that. I bought the CE a week after launch and redeemed my code on the same day. MS was to email me my code which they haven't yet.

Anyhoo, contacted their tech support via email. They're saying wait till August 2 else call them. Meh.

They sent me a similar email too.But thankfully, I already got a code from a generous person on gamespot :P

Finished it today . :majesty:

Agree with Afty's point some posts ago...too much of night trekking. But then from the mid part of the 4th episode...the story gets so gripping you forget all that.

One thing though, It wasnt scary at all. And I played a lot part of it at night, alone and without lights on :(

EDIT -- Make that night 'jungle' trekking

EDIT 2 -- The soundtrack is just fking awesome. Also, the episode system was something new, nothing ground breaking, but it's good to know how much you've progressed so far and how it helps you to stay back on the story
