It's a decent action game. But if you're expecting an intelligent psychological horror game like Silent Hill 2 then you'll be severely disappointed.

actually i am looking for something like that only...a good psychological story and music and kinda believable characters .....

Yeah it's a good game

It bombed coz it was launch with RDR .

This game had one of the best story .

Game was a bit repetitive and tht 5th lvl was just sh*t driving in a vehicle.

Had few weapons

Lack of open world

The thing tht made me play this game till the end was mindblowing story and awesome environment .

I can live with being bit repetitive ...ofcourse it is not good but as long as story and characters and music is great i think i can live with any other flaws

man...i am yet to complete Alan Wanker. FML.

am yet to complete GeOW 2 too. FML x2.

you're not missing out on much :fear:

it's interesting that the last few posts are in praise of a level/setpiece that was absolutely and shamelessly ripped off from left 4 dead 2. i can bet you anything that remedy developed that section after l4d2 released and they had played it.

Plus it didn't really fit into the whole "psychological thriller" thing Remedy was aiming for. At that point I finally gave up all expectations and started playing it as a straight up action game. And it was definitely more enjoyable that way...

Bumping this thread up. :P

Finally completed the game.The game had a lot going for it.It had a great atmosphere,decent storyline,great soundtrack,superb night-time visuals(lighting was awesome :majesty: ).

But the lackluster day-time visuals ,the low resolution textures & more importantly the annoyingly repetitive gameplay ruined the game for me.:(

Like Tyler said earlier, this game is not a good psychological thriller but a decent action game.

Verdict:8/10

I actually liked the peaceful levels where you just had to drive around. They seemed like leftovers from the "open world" design this game was once supposed to have. Wish there were more sections like that. The game should have had a better balance between combat, puzzles and exploration. Instead it was skewed towards the combat side.

the games got an amazing storyline(if you get the ending) and some of the best voice acting i can think of. taking about a few technical hiccups when judging the overall worth of the game is a very american thiing to do unless it completely disrupts your experience with the game(which isnt the case with alan wake), id rather take a game with a lot of character and soul, thats got a few technical hiccups compared to a technically perfect game that runs on a flawless engine where you go save america from a bunch of terrorists.

seriously though, the plot of this game puts 99% of most of the horror movies to shame.

I agree. For me, the Story was very fulfilling. The gameplay not so much. After around mid way through game I was hoping for an entire episode without combat, involving just puzzle-solving. And they could have achieved some slick psychologically twisted puzzles if they wanted, the story sets perfect platform for that.

I hope they maintain that balance in the next game. And I hope they make it open world as it was intended to be, that would be perfect.

Yeah the 3rd chapter was annoyingly long and repetitive.
