Alan Wake

If you make a wild claim and cant back it up, then yes, there's no point in continuing.

The images are right there MT, and I can't make you see something you don't want to *shrug* ! There's no win or lose here, and I don't understand why u would like to bring in that ridiculous internet pic into it. Thats why I said lets just end it. Its not a competition , dear sir. It was a simple fact, you could get amused by it for a moment and move on, but you are choosing to abuse it to win some kindof war I don't see or wish to be a part of.

Wow!!!! Did you just step out from a viewing of MNIK? Lots of melodrama in your post.

Chill dude. Instead of trying to draw comparisons from specifically set up screenies from the game, just wait till the game hits the stores. Then you can hotfoot it over to my place (or the nearest available X360-owning IVG'ians crib, although he/she may be too excited about playing Alan Wake to bother answering the door) and check the texture quality yourself.

And yes, Uncharted 2 had pretty low-def textures in places as well, not that I cared when I was trying to save Drake's a*s from falling off the train / building or admiring Chloe's posterior

So, you still think I was trying to show Alan Wake in poor light ! As I said, I was just showing how MP2 was so ahead of its time. And so that you don't get any console wars BS in ur head, I told you how even HR doesn't have that quality of textures. Which is also true.

But you couldn't cough up anything so now you bring in UC2 into it to bring up atleast something to prove something that doesn't exist. When did I talk about anything UC2 related? Both MP2 and Alan Wake are from the same devs, so, as I said before there's no competition there, MT. So, chill, I am not condemning ur beloved X360 to hell. This generation of consoles has really made you all paranoids about whose machine is better.

You said I can't see correctly, where as the images are right in ur face. That is why I wanted to end it right there, politely. But you find it melodramatic and add another unrelated talk of MNIK showing your argument in really good light. Bravo !

^^ I believe I am in a much better position than you to offer opinions on cross platform comparisons since I own and regularly play on all major platforms.

And if you were originally trying to wax melodic about Max Payne 2's advanced graphics, it certainly didnt come across that way in your initial posts. You were very much doing exactly what you are claiming not to have done.

UC2 is a valid point of reference since its the best looking game available on any platform at the moment. I was validating your opinion on the quality of MP2's textures and the relative lack of power in modern consoles, but of course, you had to take it as a defense of my "beloved" Xbox 360.

I make no bones about my fondness for the Xbox, but it is silly of you to toss phrases like console wars around when all I was doing is calling you out on what I felt was a ridiculous claim (which you still havent backed up).

Backup with what? The images are there for you to see and comprehend ! Really, what are you looking for?

And , please, you are not the only playing on all the platforms ! and , yes, bringing UC2 in was lame. It didn't feature anywhere or prove anything. If you meant that it is the best and still has worse textures than shown, then you have already proven what you have been tryin to look away from all the time. That the images show better textures on MP2. There was something wrong with my eyes, right? Looks like the condition got tranferred to you too unknowingly, cos you are saying the same thing as I was saying all along.

Can we end this now, or do you thrive on meaningless conversations to pass your day?

and BTW, I didn't mention console wars...anywhere

^^ if you are referring to the two images you referenced, then yes, Alan Wake has blurry textures compared to Max Payne 2. Its definitely because the Remedy team has lost its mojo and because the Xbox360 is weaker than a seven year old PC. Its certainly not because of the motion blur used in the shot, because that would be a preposterous presumption.

Getting better textures is certainly no big deal. But the MP2 screenshots had sharper textures only in very few places, lighting was a joke. There was no dynamic lighting, it was all volumetric or whatever they called it back then - basically using light maps. That itself frees up a lot of processing power. The textures on the characters of MP2 are a lot different - much less polygons, meaning flatter and fewer surfaces making rendering easy. (I also went to GAF and saw the other screens).

The Alan Wake screen above - check out the details on Alan Wake himself, the coat looks fabulous. The shadows and light are great - and pretty sure they are all dynamic.

A PC is certainly more powerful but it's hard to believe that a game coming out now which looks so photorealistc is behind a game from the same studio 7 years ago.

Even I saw the rest of the screenies in detail. Some of the action shots are horrendous. Like I said - lighting makes a whole lot of difference. Big example, back in the day, Thief Deadly Shadows released with some insane sys reqs because it used dynamic lighting. It killed the processors - both GPU and CPU. Same here - lower res textures does not necessarily mean worse graphics / power.
